Fred Moss the popular skipper and stalwart of the Ted Carter Southport squad has died suddenly at his peg during a festival in Ireland.

R.I.P Fred, you will be sadly missed by many.

R.I.P Fred
Was very sad last night when chris Shaw of t/c southport rang me.
Hope his lads do the business this coming weekend and win the kinderton league in memory of Fred.

Fred had fished all the Middlewich league rounds apart from the last one Lee  ;)

Think he travelled with Frank Holding. Image

Thats right Les, Fred was further down in the high numbers in our section, had a chub in his weight.

It was only over the last 3 years that i got to know Fred through fishing the Banagher festival and also the north east drennan and found him as a lovely fella and quite funny at times , there was one match in Ireland when I'd drawn an early peg stinker and Fred had drawn a flyer but with a good walk so i carried his gear to his peg for him and he repaid my kindness by winning the match with 30 odd kilos , lol , thanks for the pint you got me Fred . Another funny story was when I'd drawn next to him and for whatever reason a crazy Shannon swan took a fancy to me and wouldn't leave me alone all match , hissing and raising its wings at me much to fred's amusement , it did get quiet scary at times and we put it down to my lime green hat which was soon removed . RIP Fred and tight lines up there mate

Fred was a dry old character, transformed the Southport team since he took on the captaincy, will be sadly missed by many here in the North West... Top man.....
