Albert Morris Bridgewater Canal Open   Sun 24th May

35 anglers fished  Cornbrook , Old Trafford.

A very warm day close to the city center of Manchester .....this was an incident packed match to say the least !!..... it usually is on these lengths  Image Image most of the bridgy here has a very narrow footpath with endless joggers ( some mega fit women btw  Image  :P)    Loads of boats, mountain bikers, eastern europeans encrouching anglers pegs (no comment  Image) Steve Knowles even won the football card before he drew  Image   Image

1st  Derek Bowers  Drennan NW                    5.3.0
2nd Roger Gardom   Sensas / Trafford Angling 4.14.0
3rd Steve Watson    Chehire MG                      4.2.0
4th Tony Derbyshire Derby`s Danglers             3.8.8

Hello Paul    ;)  Image

Its 20 mtrs wide at cornbrook on the metro length mate, its 6.5 ft deep from 4 mtrs to around 14mtrs then it gently shelves up to around 3ft right across where a few fish the waggler. Its a very busy stretch of canal where a lot of people use the towpath to walk into the center of Manchester plus the metro link which runs above the canal and a very busy rail link directly behind the anglers, think all the noise etc keeps the majority of the cormorants away as the roach are a better stamp here than other parts of the bridgy. At the other end of the match length where steve drew a bit nearer the city center there were loads of fish tightly shoaled up on some pegs that wernt used.

I think that Roach in most Canals through out the country seem to be getting ready to sporne at this time of year, we need the Glorious weather we had sunday for about a fortnight to get them through it..... then they will get there heads down and have a proper snap at some food Image Image

Result sunday 7th June 36 fished Bridgewater Canal Moss Ratch Trafford Park.

1st  Joe Pilling      Leigh Tackle & Bait    4.5.0   (£95)
2nd Rod Fraser   Vale Royal Angling      2.0.0    (£70)
3rd Alan Morris    Sensas NW               1.15.8
4th Colin Brunt   Ted Carter Preston     1.14.8

It was another one of them days a real stuggle, loads of fish topping away from the match length at either end. Joe caught a proper bream of 3.8.0 with some small roach to win, Rod found 4 small skimmers.

I went for a walk after 90 minutes and ponced 3 chocolate hob nobs and a twix  Image  :D   Image Image
