Just twigged.

It's in Ireland; they used to use scales like that.

Kev fished for us for a couple of years during the nineties, and one thing that I remember vivdly about him was the Thames national in about 1997 when we (Trevs Browning) were one of the favourites. We all had a week off work to practise as many of the original members of the team felt that this was the chance we had been waiting for since the Witham in 1991. Kevin couldn`t put a foot wrong during that week1s practise, catching loads of roach, perch, bream, bleak, gudgeon, you name it, he caught them. It was his first National with us and he got in the team, based on his practise results. We left quite a good Thames angler out because of Kev`s recent form (i was one of the team selectors)and I remember we had quite a heated discussion at the selection meeting .
He drew a good area in a good section (Appleford) and as so often happens, sod`s law intervened. With 81 anglers in a section most of our anglers came back with good section points, apart from two and one of those was KF. He scored 29 points. We ended up 5th on the day with 684 points. 4th had 684, 3rd had 689, 2nd had 690 and first place had 701!
Never quite saw KF in the same light after that day.

Interestingly enough, Essex came 8th that day with a blank. The fella who blanked was the subject of a recent "all our yesterdays" and so the story goes, the reason he blanked was because he wouldn`t cut up worms because he thought it was cruel! If he had caught a pound and a half then Essex would have won. Guess who that angler was------------

By the way, thought I`d better mention that Chris V fishing for Essex that day ended up 3rd in his section with a double figure weight. Must have been on another flier. (he gets upset if I don`t big him up at every opportunity!)

crappity smack me Trory, fished it loads of times. It looks like peg 30 in the bay at the bottom.
I think KF lives in Rugby, he works at GEC there.
