DAZZA its going to dummy run of the semi, the pegs for Sunday will include all the pegs in the semi final
so again i ask please please DO NOT FISH THESE PEGS ON SATURDAY AS IT IS CLOSED i will put a list where you can fish at the end
dazza it would be pointless to let teams practice on the semi final pegs on the Saturday and then put the final match of the teams of eight out in the country a way from the match length completely plus i have been today to look at the parking at pillings, and to be ohnisit i wouldn't want to put my van down there.plus we have some rain forcast thursday
sundays match pegs  are
A LITTLE MOOR BRIDGE TO THE STEAM BRIDGE 170 TO 185
B STEAM BRIDGE TO GLEBE STREET 190 TO 206
C GLEBE STREET TO BOAT PUB 207 TO 223
D BOAT PUB TO THE END OF THE FLATS 226 TO 241
E H/PLANTS 245 TO 260
F SWINGBRIDGE 1TO 8 11 TO 18 = 16
G SWINGBRIDGE BOATS 5 TO 20
H BISHOPS  BELOW THE LOCK 5 TO 20

Thanks for running the match Joff. I had to be weighed in early as I had to rush off pronto. You wrote: "on the whole the canal fished fair a part from the scrapyard and some of the next section can't understand why as this section used to be the fairest section"

The section finished at 173 and the fish could be seen topping from empty peg 174 and up! I well remember seeing a gap in the 170s in one of the Loughborough semi practices several years ago caused by two anglers not turning up. Youd never believe how many fish were topping in those two empty pegs that day! It proves to me that these roach are obviously very spooky and educated once theyve been caught a few times. Thats probably why Swingbridge is so consistent as the fish are trapped between two locks and cannot get away!

If fish dont want to feed they simply swim away into undisturbed areas. Thats why I personally prefer every other peg than blocks of pegs followed by unpegged gaps. Ive seen it happen on places like Dams & Lock, the T&M at Burton and even on the Nene. As the light drops, the roach can sometimes be seen moving back down the canal like porpoises. The first angler suddenly starts to catch and then the next guy and so on. I think that happened two rounds ago on the 60s and 70s on the Walsall cut too as the two ends started to catch very late. I think its typical roach behaviour once theyve been caught a few times. Carp and F1s (sorry for swearing!) on commercials are exactly the same. Thats my theory anyway - Id love to use a fish finder to find out for sure!

at the moment each team will have two end pegs mate

thats sound but the only problem will be that all the money will go to the end pegs (which i can live with), obvioulsy the next match will give us some pointers but the last thing you want on the semi is for the fish to swim into all the gaps like in the 170's yesterday, i would rather have every peg in and give us all an equal chance dunno if thats just me?!![hr]

if you look at the weigh sheets most of the sections in the semi final were won with 5lb plus the individual weighs i thought were close as well.if i had put every other peg in,one the sections would be too long and you could be in no mans land and match over.two the individual weights would be higher because the angler who draws a flyer would have the fish to himself on good pegs and three you would find bank walkers stopping in the gaps and watching
the plus side of every peg is hopefully fish are shared more if they feed two you as a competing angler can see whats going on in your section and three often dog walkers turn around and walk the other way Image
i have no worries about everypeg as i don't seam to draw flyers like you lot Image Image

the problem is at the end of the day we will never get it right i have the full backing of angling times
constructive criticism is fine but when you get shouted at with negative and utter crap about pegs and how sh#t the venue is thats the time i'l give up trying

I still like the Loughborough mate and i hope you dont think i was criticising. I was just using it as an example of roach behaviour and trying to get my head around why they choose to be in certain areas at different times of the year etc. Perhaps im sad but it fascinates me! Image

Still no ones commented on Scrivs peg. Was it an end peg or not? Shall we have another poll on it? Image Image
