So what did finally happen to the anchor and rope??????? Dont leave us in suspense.
Hi chaps
Took a little cruise down to the junction today, with the sole purpose of recovering the rope and anchor, before it caused some passing boat some serious inconvenience or damage. The operation was succesful so can someone tell Vestie that his grappling hook and rope are in my posession should he want it back. You can also tell him that my salvage charges are quite reasonable!
MGB
How the hell did you pull it out. It was well SOLID
Did you tow it with your tug boat :D
Quite strange really, that was my intention, but my brother went down ahead of me in his car and when I got there on me boat, he was walking up the towpath with the offending article already retrieved! He had managed to lasso the rope with his extending dog lead and this time, it pulled free. A boat had gone through about an hour earlier so maybe its movement dislodged it!
Classic thread brilliant read.
Had never read the bit about MGB's retrieval- even tho it's 5 years ago cheers Baz.
I'll never forget Vesty carefully playing that swim feeder with a cold, fed up broken Mark V watching on, when he eventually netted it- a speechless Mark realised he was a victim of a wind up and trudged off back to the car even more broken than he was before.
