As it is possible we'll be on here next year decided to give it a try yesterday, forecast seemed reasonable but on the day was much cloudier and windier than expected - didn't see the sun all day so as a consequence took the longest walk to the very far side ( peg 131 ) which was sheltered by the trees.
All the banks on this lake have reeds so every peg has good margins, was going to keep it as simple as possible so only took meat and pellets, one margin rig which was the same both sides about two and a half foot and one 2+2 at 10 and 2 o'clock. It was about 10-30am when I started, small pot of pellets at 2 where it was about 4ft deep, after about five minutes float buried and was into a decent carp, now I thought the carp in the Res. we're on steroids but this was even worse as it stubbornly refused to come up, eventually managed to net it after a good five minutes or maybe longer - perfectly conditioned about 7/8lb. After about 10 mins another one about the same size and just as much fight, then it all went quiet despite trying both lines they only produced a skimmer about a 1lb.
An hour had passed and spent the next 45 mins trying the margins which eventually produced a carp of about 10lb so after nearly 2 hours only 4 fish, next half hour or so got nothing so re-fed the margins with several handfuls and took a break for a sandwich and a wander round. There were a number of other anglers on the lake and all of them were using rod and line but didn't see a huge number caught.
The remainder of the day was spent in the margins and was pretty similar just getting the odd fish now and then which may have have been different using more varied baits, in the end I fished a total of 5 hours and had 9 carp - two about 5lb, five about 7/8lb, one 10lb and one 12lb and in addition to the skimmer a bream about 3lb and a tench around 2lb.
So not exactly a bag-up day but still over 70lb and I would think well worth a visit but make sure you go to the gym first as they fight like mad. :tiphat

What was the access and the walking distance like Terry. Presume you got to park up top or by Lake 4.

Lake 3 sounds promising Tel. After all you were fishing in 2nd half of October so you cant expect 'em to be in baggin mode.

Dave, re access - looking at the satelite view it looks like park by Lake 1 and walk. Not great but not too bad - it is flat after all.
