Access to Broadholme

I understand we can now gain access to Broadholme and park on the field, rather going through the rigmarole of unloading, manhandling the gear over the gate and then risking life and limb to park across the the main road. Is this correct?

I think Phil that they like you to approach on the nearest side to the gate as to not hold up traffic.
Not to throw bricks at the hundreds of boaters circling your peg.
Once you've made your mind up which peg to fish don't move to another
Take a bag of sweets to offer the kids who are throwing shopping trolleys off the bridge
N take a picture of any fish above a 1lb (specimen) that survived the pollution :thumsup

Received from COORS match booking secretary

Broadholme

Access via gate with lock ( key required) via short slip road off Burton Bridge. If you are using SAT NAV. use post code DE14-1TD this is the post code of the Washlands Club which is down Meadow Road which is located on the opposite side of the bridge.

To avoid the danger of vehicles moving slow or backing up on Burton Bridge I suggest that one person goes ahead and opens the gate so that cars can go straight onto the parking area which is located immediately as you go through the gate. While this area is grassed it is hard standing and should accommodate approx 15 cars. Cars MUST be parked in this location and NOT driven to the pegs (term of our lease) so do not break this rule.

Paths to the waters edge (and pegs) have been cut through the undergrowth therefore transporting tackle from the parking area to the pegs is not difficult and the use of a trolley is made easy.

During the period of the water booking the gate must remain locked.

When leaving the venue ALL vehicles MUST turn LEFT at the top of the access road onto Burton Bridge. Under no circumstance can a vehicle turn right as while not only being a dangerous manoeuvre it would also contravene the highway authority rules which have given us restricted parking at this location.

Can I ask that you personally take responsibility on ensuring the above are met paying special attention to the rules on Broadholme as it has taken a number of years to obtain permission to park in this field and the council and highway authority are closely monitoring the situation.

Further details will be provided nearer the date as to what time the gate will be opened to avoid members arriving too early at the venue.....

No platforms Carlos. Most pegs are very similar, wading on gravel, especially on the rowing club side. So if you prefer to stand they are nice and comfy, or you can set your box up on a platform. Opposite side are also wading pegs, but I think it's a bit deeper in the edge, so more than likely need your platform there.

Obi , Dont forget to blunt your hooks as well ! Can do some damage with sharp hooks ( although Col thinks you only use blunt hooks any way ? )
