The Cashmores Crew found themselves ‘down Fishley again'
for match 9 of the 2015 curse series
Conditions - bright occasional sunny spells with a fluctuation NW wind blowing at times
Following recent results, most were ‘tooled up' expecting tincas but the question was would they show
following some heavy rain in the preceding 24 hours which had caused the colour to drop out of the canal in places
With all ‘locked in' the draw took place and the normal drawbags found themselves on favoured pegs.
Well that applied to most of us as Big Col had carefully
pegged out 48 hrs earlier. However don't think any of us realised that he suffered from quintaphobia – just ask Roberto
Personally I drew peg 14 and was chuffed
as it was an area I never draw – on the wides. Just goes to show – get yourself a new barrow and get a short walk everytime (10 yards last match, 3 pegs this one)
In a good area, and I was tooled up too
- but on arrival I scratched my head
and asked every passing member if they'd gorra 8mtr landing net handle I could borrow.....
Tricast wondered down half way thru and took a few snaps – that Japanese snipers peg again
Talking of short walk pegs.................guess who was on the scales with Twink. Bloody short walk pegs...
Anyway let's cut to the chase......
The 5 hours absolutely flew by and there were many tales of woe along the towpath as we weighed in.
Twink to my right lost a tinca and it grieves me to add that I lost 3
– two in a submerged weedbed in the track to my left that I never noticed on the off, but was visible when the sun was shining when I stood up. The other just came off when it tore off to my right.
The other side of Twink saw MrV incur a bit of expense – his no 5 was seen off by a tinca.
Talking of MrV – what pole is he using here...........?
‘Down tuther end' Heinzer owned up to losing 6
– including a bream that wouldn't fit in his landing net and with head and tail over either bar flopped out of it........
Nearby, OBI too had lost a fish or two if I remember right – I'll leave him to correct me or add a bit of flesh to the bones......
So the winner could have been anyone of us..........
Meanwhile the cut had also threw up loads of small silvers – for example I think i heard Yamo had 183 fish in his net – so he was a busy bunny.......
Anyway onto the tale of the scales......
