Named and shamed Grueller Match 4....

#1

Unread post by TK »

Well there’s nowt to this fishing lark is there? Certainly not on the KP – just draw a low number and it’s a doodle. Right? Wrong….. big time!

Perhaps after the first 3 results some of the old gang, plus the latest contingent had lost sight of why the series is called the ‘Grueller Series’.

Well normal service was resumed today………….cuss what a grueller match 4 turned out to be…………

Anyone can draw the cock pegs and win……..but to win the grueller series it’s not about drawing flyers – unless you do it every time like GB -  it’s what you scrat off  the ballacher pegs.

Before the draw, the KP had an unusually brown colour to it, similar to carpie puddles in the height of summer. BDM didn’t fancy it one iota. No sign of any warm water either.

The draw was made…….everyone seemingly hesitate to take the plunge so Simple dipped in first and continued smiling when he pulled one of the favoured section pegs – no 4. That was the catalyst for the others……….

Golden Balls had got out of his sickbed to fish this one and although not fully recovered, showed his drawing prowess was restored with peg 3. The Wedge soon followed and was happy that he could consolidate his lead at the top with peg 6.

Only a week into the New Year and Yamo lost his alleged new title of Bum Draw Master 2007 with peg 5 – told you he was the young pretender.

Poor Mr V pulled out 10 to maintain his run  of ‘high draws’. ME was all laughs to pull out 16 again.

Begs 1 & 2 were bagged by Phil B and Zorro and Shaunie pulled out a favoured 15 – Cashmores Corner.

As I scribbled down the anglers names against their we were down to two left in the bag – 12, which Simple will testify aint exactly a flyer and peg 14, always good for a chub or two if you can get em in.

KOD wouldn’t dip into the hat, so I chanced a 50/50 on getting 14………..BDM mode kicked in and I pulled 12, leaving KOD rubbing his hands at the thought of 14.

We were all setting up in our pegs and up rolled the Cashmores, but they TULASO to the outlet, obviously not fancying 8 or 13.

The all in and I fed my lines. Put in here, put in there, put in everywhere, this rig, that rig and the other…….……..sod all.

Then a crack was heard and a few choice anglo-saxon words followed, it was ME on 16 getting seen off of by a beastie.

Ginger Tom was his normal talkative self, out of sight, but constantly reminding BMD of every fish he caught and BDM struggled to scrat even a gudgeon.

On learning at the 12 oclock mark that GT had picked up a skimmer BDM balled it in on one of his non productive lines in an attempt to kick start something into life.

The result……………nowt.

BDM and ME were conversing back to back, ME having the edge 6 gudgeon to 3. news come down that the low pegs were struggling too.  Perhaps 3 gudgeon wasn’t too bad. Then Simple went walkies and admitted with a big  smile that he’d had a 10oz rub a dub.
Next young Shaunie on walk abouts ……..a 6 ouncer. BDM was in trouble.

No one knew how Mr V was faring off an ‘average’ peg 10. GT had tried engaging him in conversation with no success.

15 mins to go. BDM in even bigger trouble……..a total of eight bites, 8 gudgeon for about 3 ounce. Time for a last gamble……………

A quick suicidal change of tack…………….line fed (cant tell you how or that would give the game away – LOL)_…………..put in and a slow glide away of the float. After a tousle a 6 oz chublet graced the net. 3 further put ins, 3 bites and 2 chublets and 1 roach were gratefully received to assist the jail break. What would those few extra ounces count for in the grand master of things?

Whistle and all out.

Whilst packing up, a trip down to see KOD on the peg that BDM wanted to fish all week. KOD was cussing – he admitted to 4 rub a dubs on his favoured caster – Mouse watch out on your cut match HAHA – but had lost about another 20 and nearly run out of rigs and hooklengths. A struggle even on the size 20 lackies to get them 4 ouncers in!!!

Lots of grim faces lined the bank packing up. ME was first to weight and surprised everyone………….beside the customary gudgeon he’d snared a small rub a dub…………or had he smuggled it from the Pops he fished on Thursday!

Anyway less of the waffle – here’s the results

TK, as for GT trying to engage me in conversation, it went something like this:
GT " whats the lowest weight in a power station match Paul"
MrV " a dry net"
GT "what was that then"
MrV " Nothing, it was a dry net"
GT "No, I meant lowest winning wight"
MrV " Oh, about 5 or 6 pound I think"
Hard work innit sometimes :D :D

Not half   :D Classic from GT in the clubhouse later..............said in a sincere, straight laced but almost enquiring manner
'Simple thinks I'm doollalley'
There was nearly two cases of cardiac arrest as BDM and Heinzer just cracked up at that - my face is full of burst blood vessels because of the loss of oxygen for a couple of minutes :D :D :D
He'll be the bl00dy death of me one day.....

would they have gone if pegs 1 and 2 had been left in the bag?

Should have had their money before telling them what was left in the bag.
