Certainly was a bit different TK :thumsup
Biggest problem yesterday was rafts of weed coming down the inside line, and it was the same for everyone. I think weights would have been even higher without it. Personally, I must have lost over 5lb of fish due to the weed coming down. :rage :rage Having said that, I can honestly say it was the best days fishing I have had in ages. Nothing can compare to catching Dace of all sizes on the stick and maggot. I am really enjoying my river fishing at the moment, like I have said before on here, it's like rewinding to the 70's and 80's with the turnouts and the fishing.

The gardens stretch brings back many memories of past matches TK but sadly no longer fished as owned by a private company   :(

Wasn't a big white one with a bald bloke riding it ??

He/they ruined our Charity match last year, we packed up early because of them.

Ah the sunken gardens with the 'beware of the snakes' sign.
Drew there in that massive Burton match years ag.

This is another secret Frank Barlow story!
I drew a couple of pegs from Frank with nobody in between us. Pretty sure Dean was with his dad that day but he was very young and may or may not remember this.
We both weighed in identical weights and had to share the section. Frank was a bit, sorry lot miffed at the payout! We had the usual chat and pint and it transpired that he had kept a small tench back, can't remember whether it was for his pool or someone he knew.
Anyway he would have won the section with it although it was only about 4 oz!!!!!!!!! Hope Dean sees this, in his far distant memory he may remember it. :shifty :shifty

Happy days - the best. :tiphat

Spot on Bill with the snake warning sign . i was fishing with the then secretary Brian Bostock when suddenly a 3ft long snake with diamond markings on it , swam towards us . Thinking it was an adder I fended it off with my long landing net . The snake hissed and reared up like a cobra ready to strike and then decided to go up the bank next to Brian. At this point Brian imediately packed up and left . The next day Brian erected the warning sign . :)
