Mike i think you will find that nearly all those down to fish know how to handle fish and that they never pick carp up but put the landing net straight into the keepnet. No risk then of missing the keepnet then. Image

IF I catch one it will not leave my landing net and will be nowhere near the boards. Once unhooked it will be lowered in my landing net in to my keepnet.
Should I catch a BIG un(too big to un hook in my landing net), I have a good unhooking mat with plenty of padding which I will have behind my box just in case. Image

Mike,

The Vid's posted were so that people can see what Drayton is like. ;)

The people in the vid's are what i call wantabe's as they "THINK" they are carp anglers.
Drayton gets a lot of them (and has done for years) you cant miss them..... 2 anglers with 4 Rods on 2 Shiny Pods and only HALF a brain between them......

Chuck in 10kg of dog biscuit at 40yds them chuck their hook baits to 100yds then sit on an empty pallet both chatting till finally all 4 rods go at once, which they then panick and run to and give the most pointless of strikes right over their shoulders.....

And people wonder why mouths get damaged.....

Rant over.....

Simple,

You WHIMP it's FUN on the pole. Image Image Image

All you need is a pole, 25 laccy, 15lb maxima straight throught to a size 10 animal hook and away you go, no need for fancy rods Image Image Image

Al,

Dont worry regards what line the makers "say" your rod is capable of handling as that dont really mean much if anything.

I've got a 12ft Light Match Canal Waggler rod which is stated as max 4lb main line and it's the rod of my choice if i'm waggler fishing for Carp with 10lb line upto about 50 yards out (had fish to mid doubles on it).
It's the action that is more important. ;)

The rod i use for ALL my feeder work scares the pants off people when they see it with a lump on as it bends from tip to butt and thats only rated to 8lb line, but i use line from 3lb to 12lb as well as 4lb Braid again with no worry.

Dont get me wrong though i do have a 2.75 test Carp rod for when it's needed (maybe once a year) and a Barbel rod for the Bagging Wagg.

And last year i actually bought and used a 13ft Beachcaster for under the walkway at Clattercote. Image

What you have to remember with those Vids is that the people in them are not match anglers but hook and haulers. ::)

Mitch,

On the feeder or Bagging animals are fine but not for proper under the boards fishing. :D
