Top report bill Image Image think you have a knack for this writing lark :D ;) 8-) well done to you and Paul Turner for all the hard work which make these matches possible Image Image

I went through a speed camera on the A34 at 120 mph and did a handbrake turn in the Moat House Hotel i was that eager to get to my peg Image Image Image me and lloydy probably drew two of the best canal roach pegs in the country ...... pegs you can only dream about usually 8-) 8-) although we both had a good days canal fishing it later surfaced after talking to the angler on peg 98 that he and his team had practiced on our pegs on thursday and bagged up with roach to 12oz other anglers had practiced on the same pegs before them earlier in the week Image shame it had been flattened come match day :'( :'( :'(

Right chaps report for Saturday on the Trent and Mersey Canal at Shugborough.

81 fished.
One thing that really came out of this match is just how 'different' this section is than any other on the Division One course. The section is rightly favourite to take the individual honours but anyone that has never seen it may come unstuck, don't take my word for it, ask the 81 that fished it. The carp just did'nt want to; squatt alost about twenty between them but that is a very low total for the section. The match was won by Mark Smith (Penkridge) with three perch and a 15 lb 4 oz carp (run of the mill size for here). Mark was at the start of the plantation section and fished worm. Dr Jamie Mills (Mansfield Angling) was at the other end of the plantation where he had big skimmers, a perch and a small carp of 10 lb 2 oz in his 17-14-11, his carp fell to caster. Darren Lewis (Fox Match Tipton van den Eynde) had 8-4-13 of roach and small skimmers to squatt and pinkie on the Castmetal section. Perry Delgarno (Bridgnorth AS) had one bream and proper caster roach for 7-14-2. Next came Steve Faux (Team Eclipse) with one tench, yes there are still a few here, one bream and a few bits for 7-4-2. Danny Carter (Fox Tipton Van den Eynde) was sixth with the best all roach catch of 5-14-8.

Come on lads get this one sorted Image Image Image Image

Sunday, Staffs-Worcs Canal, Penkridge, 142 fished.

The roach have started to show a little earlier than usual and that is great news for those in the Division One National Championships. Plenty of roach weights were recorded in this close matrch and it will get better still. Rob Porter (Mosella Lostock Tackle Box) netted a last ditch carp of 10 lb 8 oz and his 12-0-8 was enough to win from a draw opposite the mobile homes. Second and third with chub catches were Ian Morrison (Ted Carter, Southport) with 11-12 0 of chub and twenty hemp roach and Andy Billington (Drennan North West) who also included a big bream in his 11-8-0. Fred Cheetham (Team Eclipse) was the best of the roach weights with 10-12-8 from the top end of the roadside. Fred, for a change, caught on ounched bread and hemp. Next came Mark Webb (Saints) with 10-11-13 of skimmers from Pretty Bridge. Dave Brown (Fox Tipton Van den Eynde) had 10-0-4 od chub and roach from peg 59. Ian Hingley (Black Country Tackle) was last in the long frame with 9-2-12 of all roach.
The venue fished that well Woodhouse even won his section. Image Image

Unfortunately I received my first complaint on Saturday at the Shugborough match.

I stopped in the club after for a few bevvies and three or four 'New Agers' came in shouting and bellyaching. They claimed that a man in a red and black fleece was causing a blot and the landscape and all they want is a quiet life.

if he hadn't lost a chub he'd of been in the main money  Image
i think lloydy lost one as well bill  Image

i had the same old story off paul turner Imageits not the best area the narrows below the M6 or M5  but to be fare it looked good i had a tipton or starlet on my left and simon nickless on my right on a end peg Imageso i new not to get the mars bars out Image just below one of the die hard shakespeare lads as well
started off by watching the areas simon was feeding much the same as i was and stared off well in fact for a good part of the match i could of been beating him then just what you don't want a rig tangle just at the wrong time then a double boat i never really recovered and simon took the section with 3lb 15oz beating me by a pound still the lads to my left really struggled and from my point of view was nice to see .even the best anglers draw bad every now and again Image
well run again bill and paul  Image Image
