League Northern Semi Final 1st April 2012 Stainforth & Keadby
Angling Trust Winter League Northern Semi Final (Sponsored by Partridge Lakes, Nr Warrington) Sunday 1st April 2012 Stainforth & Keadby Canal, Thorne
Match Report
The second of the Angling Trust Winter League Northern semi-finals again faced the changes in the weather conditions with overnight temperatures of minus 3 degrees, which was going to have a big effect on the fishing in the match held on Sunday 1st April 2012 on the Stainforth & Keadby Canal, Thorne.
The venue in the run up to the semi-final had been producing consistent double figure weights in the matches but the changes in the conditions had considerably reduced the expectation levels.
Bright sunshine and the continuing cold northerly wind also did not help the venue fish to its potential.
Ultimate Barnsley Blacks, dropped only 7 points out of a potential 80, ran out the eventual winners, with four section wins 5 seconds and one third, with a total point’s tally of 73, a clear 15 points ahead of their nearest rivals Saints.
On the Individual front Jason Cunningham of Shakespeare Superteam broke the Barnsley monopoly with a winning weight of 3 kgs 280 narrowly beating Simon Fields of Ultimate Barnsley Blacks with a weight of 3 kgs 210.
Individual placings:
1st Jason Cunningham (Shakespeare Superteam) E3 - 3.280
2nd Simon Fields (Ultimate Barnsley Blacks) H5 - 3.210
3rd Dave Brooks (Ultimate Barnsley Blacks) E4 - 2.850
4th Andy Geldart (Ultimate Barnsley Blacks) J1 - 2.380
5th Ian Blakely (Saints) H6 - 2.370
6th Nigel Bull (Shakespeare Superteam) H8 - 2.340

Angling Trust Winter League Northern Semi Final (Sponsored by Partridge Lakes, Cucheth, Nr Warrington) Saturday 31st March 2012 Garbolino Lindholme Lakes
Match Report
The first of the Northern semi-finals of the Angling Trust Winter League took place on Saturday 31st March 2012 at Garbolino Lindholme Lakes, Epworth, Doncaster with 90 anglers who set out to be one of the top 3 teams out of the 9 competing teams to qualify for a place in the Winter League Final to be held on Saturday 11th August 2012 at Partridge Lakes Fishery, Culcheth, Nr Warrington.
Despite conditions on the day going from the 20’s to temperatures of 5-6 degrees along with a very fresh northerly wind, expectations were that the conditions would reduce the potential for big weights, although the venue fished well and weights in excess of 20 kilograms were needed to win each of the 10 sections.
The match however, was not about individuals but about teams and hot favourites Drennan North West were to prove that the time they had spent practicing in the run up to the event was to pay off. With four section winners, one second and two thirds in section, plus two fourths and one fifth, they ran out winners with a clear nine point advantage over their nearest rivals. They also had the individual winner in Andy Bennett who, drawn on Willow lake peg J8 made best use of this fancied peg to amass a total weight of 50 kgs 780 grams.
Individual placings:
1st Andy Bennett (Drennan North West) J8 - 50.780
2nd Josh Newton (Browning Quaker) B8 - 37.850
3rd Adie Twist (Tricast Highfield) E1 - 35.350
4th Johnny Madison (Browning Quaker) E2 - 33.970
5th Pete Goodman (Chambers Champs) E9 - 33.540
6th Lee Harrison (Garbolino Ossett) B4 - 31.200
Team placings:
1st Drennan North West 9-5-6-9-6-7-8-7-9-9 (75 points) 262.000
2nd Chambers Champs 1-4-7-8-7-9-7-9-7-7 (66 points) 220.550
3rd Browning Quaker 2-9-5-6-8-8-5-6-5-8 (62 points) 211.450
4th Garbolino Ossett 7-8-9-7-4-4-2-8-6-5 (60 points) 183.260
5th Sensas Mark One 5-6-2-4-5-5-9-5-8-3 (52 points) 173.640
6th Tricast Highfield 6-7-4-3-9-3-4-4-2-2 (44 points) 154.750
7th Long Eaton Federation 8-3-3-5-3-6-1-1-4-6 (40 points) 134.290
8th Ted Carter Preston 4-1-8-2-2-2-6-2-3-4 (34 points) 125.710

Sorry i must explain....
Diddy left Essex County for Dorking and that was almost the final nail in the coffin for Essex
Not Diddys fault Essex was on it`s knee`s.
I know another angler who didn`t like Dorking who is now a member and it ain`t Diddy and no he`s not of of the pricks.

I have heard that a couple of the Dorking anglers have bought a barge for the canal where that trial is or it might have been someone being sarcastic for the amount of time they are spending there, even to the point if one of them aint fishing he even has a spy walking up and down watching other anglers
Hard for some anglers too compete with that I'm afraid

i now what you mean chris there is a lot of black politics in competitive team fishing
back in the days i think we were as guilty lots of anglers wanted to fish for us and you could pick and choose
since team fishing has turned there aren't as many anglers wanting to fish team matches so even we have been picked through
Steve hemmingrey brad titmas inspired the rest of the team as did Darren bickerton when he was at trentmen its not these anglers fault in anyway and the time and effort they put in should be rewarded
and move to better things but whats better in the future of team fishing
there are very few under dogs that have made it to the winter final great for the teams that have
perhaps if some of these anglers had stayed put [but have a individual package of sponsorship]these teams would still challenging week in week out as they where very good motivators to the rest of there team
we have three very good young lads for the coming season i'm just hoping we keep them

Ive been in the company of a Drennan North West angler this afternoon and i have confidently been told there is no way Drennan North West will be beaten at Partridge in the final even with a iffy draw
