The day for me started at 7am. I got up and got changed, Gem was less eager to get up
I go down and make a brew and make sure everything is in the car. Gem finally comes down but looks like she can't be arsed to fish
Driving to the venue only takes about 20 mins, Fishley lane was the location, a stretch I have been looking forward to fishing for some time
There is a queue of cars down the road and a frantic looking TK flapping around by the gate. I pulls up and rolls the window down and TK informs me that the lock has been changed and we can't get in
I thought he was joking but knew it was true when we all started driving to Wood Lane.
With everyone arriving at Wood lane the meets and greets were done, Great to meet everyone and put names to faces. Last to pull up was Malc 'the JINX' With Malc fishing the same match as TK we knew we were in for a Grueller

The cut was looking very nice towards Fishley lane.
The pegging was very carefully planned but I think we needed a few more pegger outters
Everyone before the draw
At the draw I drew peg 22 which was on the Common, a plave I did not want to be at all
To make thing worse I had a superstar next to me so no pressure, Diddy on my right
To my left I had a pair of clowns, Obi and Snowie
Half way through the match I got bored of watching my float not moving and went for a walk. Standing on the bridge I could see someone resembling a leprechaun sitting on a pot of gold
But it was just Bill Yards
Next peg along was Woodhouse
Lee trying everything to avoid a MINXING.
Chatting with Lee Keef on the next peg hooks in to a tench but it proceeds to take him for a spin round the cut before doing him in the lillies.
Dodge was on the next peg and with a tench in the net and trying for another.
With an hour to go I went back to my peg and tried to catch a fish but failed.
I looked over to my left and the sky was black, so to top the day off it looked like we were going to get wet whilst packing up.
During the match we heard Gem shriek after her first fish, A skimmer weighing "I dont know"
I also had a very excited phone call in the last hour from Gem informing me that she also had a tench in the net
With what I had caught I knew I had been minxed a treat
The scales told the story, Joffy was winning until they got to Gems peg.... Gem plopped her Bream and tench in the basket and it goes 5-5-3 which puts her in first place.
Heading further down fish come and go in the basket as Gem looks on but fail to topple her weight
We get down to the last 3, Diddy, Guesty and Larry. Diddy had a tench and had been picking off roach as well so I thought he was close to Gems weight but it wasn't. Guesty pulls his net out and Lee says "Sorry Gem" as Guesty puts a fine 7lb plus on the scales
Last but not least was Larry, word was he had a few big fish and on hearing Gems weight he was unsure if he could do it or not. With the fish bouncing around it was a tense moment for Larry but in the end he fell short and joined the rest of the MINXED souls
With the rain still pouring the after match bbq was snuffed out but TK had made plans so we could still have the food. Everyone made their way back to Harrisons. Thanks Sprucey for the guided tour round that accident
Back in the club we all had our burger and sausage then TK did the results.
