There will be a few fur and feathers on the canal this winter Dan, cos they normally have it as a reserve for the local river matches and there has been a bit of rain lately! The best person to call is Kevin Dicks of Bathampton, he'll know, 07775526437. ps Bring some spare trackies this year, Pink wasn't your colour! he he

Ok you’ve seen the results above, here’s  how I won the match:
I drew peg E2 which was about permanent peg 97 on ‘the Boats’ Section, to the left of Pewsey Wharf. I didn’t really fancy it as, in the practice match the previous week the section had got better as you went along, it also  included the end peg next to the wires plus one team was 2 anglers short, and one was in my section leaving a blank peg between pegs 3 and 5. I was up against it!
After winning the practice open the week before and catching a lot of fish on bread, I planned to use this again and on plumbing up I found 4ft at 4 sections out. A lot of anglers seem to think that the inside line is always top 3 with 2 on but on the narrow pegs (11m up against the boat) I feel this is too far over and as long as I have 4 ft I’ll fish 4 sections out, it also speeds things up as well.
I also plumbed up 1 section off the boat and found 3 ½ft there and up against the boat were I had 3 ft
These are the rigs I set up:
· 4x10 Trabucco Ultimate 1 on 0.09mm Garbo- line, with a string  of 11’s  and 3 no 12 droppers  0.06mm bottom to an 24  Image IM1  hook Fished just off bottom at 11.5M
· 4x12 Trabucco ultimate 1 on 0.09mm Garbo- line, bulk of no.11’s 3 no 12 droppers   0.06mm bottom to a 24 Image IM1 hook Fished just off bottom at 10M
· 0.4grm Garbolino DS9 on 0.09mm Garbo- line, bulk no 10’s 0.07mm bottom to a 22 Image IM1 hook - for bread at 4 sections
· 0.3grm Garbolino DS9 on 0.09mm Garbo- line, bulk no 10’s  0.07mm bottom to a 22 Image IM1 hook - for bread at 10M at an angle
· 0.3grm sensas red carp 1 on 0.14mm-0.10 to a B560 20 hook at 6 sections down the peg- chopped worm
· 4 x 10 Trabucco ‘Pole stick’ 0.12mm-0.08mm to a  Drennan 20 super carbon maggot hook for caster against the boat

And at the start I cupped  a  kiwi fruit sized ball of liquidized bread on both the 4 section line and at a staggered 9M line. Then cupped  200ml of joker onto the 10M line ant about 100ml+ a few casters on two lines at 11M each end of the boat opposite me.

I started at 4 sections with a 4mm bit of bread and had fish from the off, but despite catching one most put in’s I had to have the float dotted right down till it was virtually level with the water and drag the bait through to the left towards Devizes (the natural flow) to get bites. In the first hour I had 40 fish, with another 40 in the 2nd hour. But it was slowing so I had a go over onto the deeper 10M line and I continued to catch on single and double joker. I tried right over on bloodworm, joker and caster but only had about 3 tiny fish, it seemed the fish wanted to be in the deeper water? My one fish on the chopped worm was a 1oz Ruffe. I had a few drops back onto the bread in the last 3 hours but only had about 10 more fish on there mostly on 3mm punch.
At one point I thought I could be on for 200 fish but because the last couple f hours were slow I had to settle for just over 150 and weighed 5.3.8, and  My section went: 3.3.0. 5.3.8 (me)  2.3.8.  blank peg (one of 2 on the match length) 4.4.0 and  1.8.0 off the end peg!
I felt the canal had fished harder than in the practice match the week before, and  I was happy with my match, but  I was  Even happier when I got back to the pub and found out that it was much harder than I had thought, and I had won the whole match as well!  So for the second week on the row I bought the whole team a beer. ( one each, not one between them!!)

very well done Rich Image, i recieved a next peg battering.. just a shame im turning in to a blind old git and couldnt see my float when i dimpled it down, due to the sun reflecting off the boat window and the tree shadows!! :D ..... still did you in the individual league though Image
