How do you do the golden peg?

Open to club members only so.....
Any member that wants to enter pays a pound.
Their name is ticked on the sheet.
The guests draw their pegs so they are out the way.
Before the members draw, someone draws out 2 or 3 pegs.
These are the golden pegs. They are written down and placed back in the draw bag.
Club members draw.
If you pick one of the golden pegs out the bag, have payed your pound to enter and win off that peg, you win all the money in the kitty for the golden peg.
If no one wins it accumulates until someone wins it.
If its building up too much you add a few more golden pegs after a few matches.
If no one wins it at the end of the year, I buy a new car  Image   :D
Adds a bit of pressure and banter to the match with the chance of winning a bit for your efforts.

I see, on the matches im involved in after everyone draws there peg all the peg numbers are returned to the bag and the golden peg is drawn and without looking at it, its placed in a sealed envelope until the match is over, and at the end the winner opens the envelope, so there is no extra pressure just fish the best to your ability on the day. The only reason they do this is because if you get 2 like minded people who agree especially on a canal only one will fish the far shelf so there is only one lot of bait going in that area while the other just bit bashes to get in the money, i have known that when it is quite obvious that the one fishing the far shelf has won the match he tells his mate to go over and try and get a carp to make sure he comes in the money and then they split the money, so that is why it goes in an envelope until the end.

Do you fish any severn matches TK.

Only occasionally Drynet - because of the scrambling down banks etc with an aging club membership

If you know of any venues that can accomodate 25 pegs with minimal walking and decent banks pls let me know Image

Most venues have CCTV car parks

The reason and only reason they have cctv is to stop people nicking the fish, its nout to do with looking after your car

TK can you please clarify one point.

What do you do if a guest wins the match? Do you pay out the Golden Peg money. Do you omit all the guests and those who didnt enter results and and work out the winner from only those who paid to enter the Golden peg.
It would seem very unfair to me that you pay every week to enter and the one week you draw the right peg someone not allowed/ didnt pay to enter the Golden peg stops you winning. Especially as you were the winner of those who entered the competition.

Only those that are elegible to fish for G/P do so.

ie visitors and non payers draw first their peg discs are kept on one side.
the payers then draw, after the draw there pegs are put back in the hat and g/p is then drawn.

Understand that mate, but what if I come second in the match and a guest wins the match do I still get paid out for the Golden peg money?

A good question that Davec.

Depends how mercenary you want to be in 'protecting' the pot. Image

It's only nearly happened once, when I won the GP on the Trent and a visitor was only drams behind in 2nd place.

I think I'd feel morally obliged to pay out the member in 2nd place on a GP if beaten by a visitor as the visitor wasn't in the GP pool.

Perhaps it's one we need to qualify at our AGM

What do other Cashmores members think about this situation occuring?
