YA taff stick to fishing will you know lets get back to tares  Image

When I was at school ( more years ago than I care to remember) we spent the whole 6 weeks holidays fishing hemp and tares down the Trent at Willington cos we couldn't afford maggots and casters, tares were cheap.
we had some proper nets of roach

Did you carry on fishing when the air raid warnings went off ? Image

No worries Glyn. Happy to help it just goes to show that, although Bill and I do them differently, the results arent always that different. Just a matter of which method you prefer.
I hope they worked.

As for hemp I do something like 40 pints of the stuff when I go to Ireland (for two of us).
I know everyone has their different ways of doing it but I use a very old large saucepan with a good fitting lid. Half fill the pan with water and put a teaspoon (plenty) of bicarb in. Stick what hemp you need in the pan. Bring to the boil and let it boil for about ten minutes. switch off, put the lid on and let it cool down naturally. Most will split as it cools down.
Easy peasy, don't take too long Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image

Sensas don't make or grow crappity smack hemp. All they do is riddle the crappity smack stuff.

Why pay those crappity smack silly prices just for the name. My hemp works out at 20p a lb. :-*

:-/ :-/ OK :-/ :-/ just that I've had some and it cooked really well i know dave Clayton always shops around for his in farm shops pet shops and sometimes he just covers it with cold water and leaves it in the fridge until the weekend and thats always splits but the kernels are easy to hook Image

another tip regarding tares is when cooking them always have a rusty nail/screw in the bottom of the pan. It helps turn them a dark colour.
