Maver Alborella
Ah, Maver Alborella.
That must be a good age now, - from memory our lads designed that (it was nowt to do with me) when we were sponsored heavily by Maver. It's intention was for fishing long whip on the canal. This was in the days when you needed gudgeon and you could catch so many fishing up to the far bank. I do belive they did a slightly tougher model for the river/pools.
Funnily enough I never had one, I was working on a whip where you could use a variable butt to adjust the length from 2.5 to as much as four metres (by using 'false' pieces and the like). It was a failure for some reason or other (cost mainly) but Daiwa picked up on the idea and made a fairly decent 'seller' out of it.
My designing success came a bit later in the pub at Church Eaton! I was up there taking pics for some big match and there were a few reps there. I actually said to one that floats were hard to get for squatt fishing here. I drew one up basic and simple, you might remember it, - the Drennan Egg was born which went on to sell millions
I tried to design a different type of feeder, that was a total flop.
Which some crappity smack designed a beer glass that don't empty
