WHAT A CRACKER !!!4TH RD RESULTS
never a dull moment on this series of winter league's ::)after the decision was made on Saturday to move the competition from the river to the canal rumours started straight away another fix leicester and Trentmen wanted it moving Blair Blair Blair ::) ::) ::)facts are there every team captain was told more or less at the same time on Saturday THE DECISSION WAS SOLELY THE MATCH ORGANISERS AND HIS ALONE FACT and the right one as far as i'm concerned and what a match it turned out to be a proper ding dong between the top two teams no one could call which way it could go
with a cold front coming in early morning a ground frost welcomed us all on the morning the expected rain was just around the corner condititions looked far from good plus the canal colouring up over night
a few anglers made it known it could be very hard, bite-less and rubbish but how wrong could they have been

it turned out to be a match of two halfs with less colour at the far end of the canal this produced some cracking sport pinkies over G/B scoring well plus bread punch always being a faoured bait
pete marlow taking a early lead in is section only to have his Trentman come back strongly with two very big perch in a 10 minute spell
tony beech of Quorn had some early big fish and after two hours amitted 10lb
two bream and a chub all coming to pole and worm

i must say its great to be back in the winter league ive walked most of it and loved the chats behind anglers i'm normally doing battle with
anyway i'd dropped off Pete scott in the morning on yet another godfrey and scotty fly-er peg 1 bishops meadow lock while mark made do with 248 on h/plant hire not best pleased with his draw on the morning we had also draw next to a few Trentmen throughout the match length so battles and points were flying around everywhere
but one thing that does stick out is the respect both teams have for each other and i'm sure they would say the same incredibly both teams averaged 5lb a man but it was all on the point totals now as the final hooter went
i asked scotty what he had and then looked in his net i said 15lb mybe less but had loads of problems with pike
then higgy walked down they both knew it was close higgy picked pete's net out and with a cheeky smile said i think ive done you kido
pete's 6kg 600kg
higgys went 8kg700g a cracking net of fish

what went wrong kido your lads fish the erewash canal all the time
its a funny thing when you are walking the bank you see little things i could tell the anglers that just didn't want to be there and the others got to the task in hand. its very noticable and some of these anglers might not get in there repected teams for the next round on the river
