Great read looking at all the old results, "our" Lenny Pulford is still as keen as ever & went to the dark side but has recently returned and is doing loads of silver matches, Phil Iveson fishes one day a week & is still a canal & river nut, dont think he's ever fished commi's and Bob Brown and Lee Harrison still go loads. Fish the Thorne pairs with Lee and what a class act he is, he's winning on commies in summer & still doing the biz october-march on the canals Image

i remember yanny catching that carp it was big news down the bank that day
another name in the results Edgar Parnell king of the witham Image
he made the whole team a set of wagglers for the Leicester home brewery boys for the witham national
a real proper finish like nothing else i'd ever seen ,still got one or two somewhere what a angler he used to be Image Imagein one semi final on the witham he asked if i could provide 12 bread trays for the team :-? :-?they didn't half rattle all the way there but the reason was clear when we saw the venue on the day very low and thick mud these were a godsend i'm sure kieth hobson won the semi that year Image Image

Here's a few more from the same edition of Anglers Mail - there were 11 pages of match reports that week back then, and clock the size of some of the matches

Better start off with one for Dodge and the NW gang  :P

IIRC Steve had an ASI with 3 top trays on it. Not really sure if his feet reached the floor.

see Myles Phillips on the Swarkestone match ..... see other thread on team image!

I fished the next polesworth open and came 2nd with about 4 lb .... didn't fish as well!!

Benchy still fishes and wins on the Avon ..... and I even saw Tony Eaves on a match a year or so back!! haven't seen Cas for about 5 years .... he was turning to the dark side at the time.

Those were the days...polly wag chucked inches from farside tins ....
Chub were boss back then.  hemp n caster down  neardide ledge...Squatts  were only ever used in yer feeder bream  mix.

Then a certain gentleman called Richard Thorne popped up on scene and started to take the place apart with double figure roach catches..feeding upwards of 2pt of squatt and 4pt of hemp.
