Ive just been thinking about venues for next year. After reading “Freshwater Informer“ I have come up with a few in Kent that I don’t know too much about..

Has anyone got any info on these places
Mousehole Lakes Paddock Wood http://www.mouseholelakes.co.uk/
Claygate Lakes http://www.newclaygatelakes.co.uk/
Chequertree http://www.chequertreefishery.com/
Orchard Farm near Paddock Wood http://www.orchardplacefarmfishing.co.uk/
Cackle Hill Biddenden http://www.cackle-hill-lakes.com/

Im sure Orchard Farm is basically small stockies and is just a fish race but don’t know much more.

Dave,
I think I can help a little on these
MOUSEHOLE don't know much about this, I think the main lake is more specimen fishing and I believe the match lake is fairly new so probably small stuff.
CLAYGATE has a snake type lake (30 swims) and a bigger general lake where most matches are held. Weights in the summer appear to be over 100lb so could well be worth a visit.
CHEQUERTREE there is very little detail about the lakes so don't know about matches, it is also a caravan and camping site which could mean it's busy/noisy.
ORCHARDPLACE is a predominately carp and catfish venue, there are two match lakes (5 - 20 swims and 6 with 60 swims) but they have only been open since 2010 and contain F1s and small stockies as you say.
CACKLE-HILL has one match lake with 28 swims, it is about five years old and a bit like Monks being quite exposed, I fished it a couple of years ago on a very hot day and it was ok although I got the impression it may be a bit understocked for a match lake but without any details of match weights it's difficult to tell.
Of all of these Claygate would probably be my 1st choice.

Thanks Terry. It looks like I will have to sacrifice a couple of days ;) for the benefit of the members and force myself to carry out Fact Finding Missions at Claygate and Cackle Hill. Image Image

I hoped thought Hartleylands Reservoir had been sold to Tesco to turn into a much needed car park ? Image

Those lakes are just average lakes Dave. Its just that we are exceptionally skillful in obtaining the weights we do from them. Image Image Image
