Mugging Fish
I am not talking about shipping out and spotting a fish and trying your luck by dropping your bait next to it and catching it. I am talking about spending a whole 5 hour match doing it. With Short distance from your float to the hook. Purposely targeting fish you can see swimming near the surface.
Spotting fish and dropping your bait in front of it or chucking a waggler in front of the fish.
What are your views on this please ?

i think its ok as long the whole rig is in the water ie the bait not being dapped on the surface its only like seing fish in the margins you see them so you put a bait there dont ya

aint that just fishing shallow ? Its just the same as seeing carp bubbles and fishing were they are coming from. By seeing the bubbles you have an idea that fish are feeding in that area so its no different by seein a fish swimming under the surface and targeing it or seeing a fish feeding in the margins ect

I thought shallow fishing was fishing in a spot with your bait in the water and firing pellets (or whatever) to where your bait is and drawing the fish to your bait. Changing your depth to suit. Not chasing fish around the surface.

Well it would appear that that little conundrum has be solved, at least at Rolf's.
Have to say it's not a method I favour, especially if it goes as far as 3inch deep rigs with overshotted floats being held up on the surface with a tight line and effectively becoming self hooking rigs, but there again I don't like floater fishing (dapping) in matches although it can be very effective as has been proved on some of our club matches where it's allowed.
Don't like floating pole either, as far as I'm concerned if you're going to fish with a pole you should have to keep it off of the water.
Not adverse to a proper mugging 5 minutes from time however, especially to get out of Jail.
