My team mate "Big Dave Williams" the last b/joker commercial collector in the country hung up his floatation suit, scrapers, waders, bulletproof vest etc last weekend,he has now retired......he is the fittest 64 yr old i know for sure....a truely great character
End Pegs MATCH FISHING MAGAZINE is doing an article on Dave and his exploits in next months edition.....it will be a fascinating and educating read ......a remarkable fella
Big Dave Williams....only bloke i know with turn ups on his underpants.
lucky to still be with us after his accident, he was running down the towpath and got his head stuck in Hughsey's belly button up to his shoulders....he was stuck faster than than two wet Daiwa sections, luckily there were plenty of big blokes around to hold him at both ends and tap him in the middle!
great bloke , never heard anyone say a bad word about him and always a pleasure to be with.
Thought about scraping myself a couple of years ago, my local tackle shop said he would buy it from me but i had to guarante orders, a couple of local anglers also said they would buy from me. There were a couple of blokes local to me who used to collect it a few years ago and after speaking to one of them his only problem was panic would set in on a friday if he hadnt got enough, he offered to help me set up, time permitting, but also put doubts in my mind about it.
any thoughts or views abouut scraping - who would want to do it ?
Don't really know what I'm doing or what I'm talking about.
Not for the faint hearted Dayglow thats for sure.........there is a big market out there, supply and demand and all that and i know dave willy has had some very very close encounters shall we say over the years, all things to think about !!
Great feature in matchfishing magazine by Jon and Dave, really enjoyed reading the article.A few secrets revealed and a lot kept under wraps (good job really...hee hee). Its amazing sometimes that we take our bait for granted whatever the weather, snow, ice, floods etc.
dead right there dodge its possible the best i've read in sometime a proper hero i can't see any of the young ones up to there neck in sh##y water and the price would double ii hope one or two of the moaning brigade read it
ps where was the venue
Couldnt agree with you more Joff, your dead right there mate
As regards the venue " Big Dave" was fishing the bridgy at stretford known as the White House stretch.
As regards the B/Joker collecting venues........ i could not possibly comment
If you ever struggle to get any DHP publications tell/e-mail me which shops and I can easily chase it up with the distributor. Remember, you can always reserve copies at newsagents or subscribe...
Like I said, tell me WHERE and I can look into it. Really f###s me off when people have problems with anything and use an internet forum to voice it and NEVER contact the real people who need to know and CAN do something about it! If you have a problem with DHP, contact DHP; if you have a problem with SKY contact SKY; if you have a problem with the BBC, contact the BBC, etc, etc
