Been to Fosters of brum today to try out the new poles, spoke to one guy regarding the maver & preston range of poles under £1000 quid and was shocked when he said that the preston and maver poles were Crap GXR & Competition range. Image he told me that the maver copetition poles are all off the same mandrel and that the only difference from the 101 to the 401 was the spares that u get and the extensions, now the build quality of the 101 to 201 is no different the only difference from the 271 to 401 is the carbon process and carbon Quality, the guy also said that they had alot of returns on the new preston GXR Range No 4 section problems. the story goes on.

It looked to me that Fosters don't rate the new maver range and Gxr poles so i dont now which to buy now, i will keep me cash in me pocket a little longer Image Image Image :'(

The trouble is that there are opinions.....lots of them.
People have preference's and different tackle shops will tell you different things about different manufacturer's.
Whatever you have been told I can tell you that I have had my Maver Messiah 3 years now and its been faultless. Spares are easy to get.
But that's just MY opinion.

Before that I had a Tri-cast which was brilliant, the only reason I upgraded was because it was only 13 meters and I wanted a 16 meter pole.

If you want to be confused even more look on MD's in the tackle section. There's about 200 pole threads with everyone's different opinions on different makes of pole :D

fosters will give it you straight m8 my uncle is the manager there and i know for a fact they pick up virtually every pole that is made. it surprises me that they slated the maver poles because you mite of noticed the whole pole alley was set up by maver! in my experience of maver poles i would recommend looking elsewhere all poles made by reglass now are fantastically light but are very weak i should know i was sponsored by maver! if your looking at spending £1000 or so ive heard the new shakespeare poles at that price range are really good and you get something like ten tops!!

Mark, Glad you took the time to take a look at the various poles on offer in Foster's, Its a shame that you recieve such negative advice which dont help in your decision making. Like Swampy stated who was previously part of a sponsered team under maver, alot of people rate the numerous poles incorporating the maver name.
I am now running a team which is sponsored by Maver and have found them totally professional in all dealings i have had so much so that all constructive critism given as been listened to, taken away, and looked at to see where things can be inproved.
The competition range of poles all have different grade of carbon hence the reason for the different price range, wouldn't be able to justify the different prices if the carbon was the same.
One of my lads this week used his new 401 competion at Boldings and was 2nd in the match....i received a txt from him immediately after with the words " New Pole The Dogs B.....X" Enough said.
In a word Mark dont believe everything you here at tackleshops, they all get looked after by various reps who push things in the right direction, speak to people on the bank, thats where you get the best opinion, All the best looking for your new pole>
