Anybody got the results?
I heard Steve Woolard had 34 kilos on Barrow deeps.
Also the river fished very well all over
Long Eaton won it 22 points with Trentmen and Quorn joint 2nd on 29.

Ay up Pete
Cant remember the full result
1. Steve Woolard 34kilo odd of Bream on the CHUB PEG on cobbles on the waggler
2.Dave Kimber 9kilo odd ? peg 30 sutton on reed bed apparently cracking net of skimmers and tench
3.Adie Reynolds 8kilo Weir peg on Brinks
4.DEAN GUESS making a welcome return to Long Eaton FED
with 7 kilo of Chub on 2nd Gully Osiers.
The river fished well considering the weather condtions.
A Cracking team performance from Long Eaton to set up an interesting Winter League.
Roll on the next round on sunday
Team Result
1 Long Eaton 22pts
jt 2nd TRENTMEN & QUORN 29PTS
4TH WIGSTON 34PTS ?
5TH LOUGHBOROUGH 36PTS ?
It was a shame only 5 teams have entered this season as
the river continues to produce some remarkable fishing .
I think its the first time ive worn shorts on a winter league.

Just about recovered from the sweltering heat from Saturday on the Erewash winter league.
Jenko won that with 12lb of tincas
Shaky mullered the team result with something like 16 points.
We were joint 5th with Starlets.
As is usual it was a big fish jobby on most of the sections with 4lb odd being the lowest section winning weight.
Scotty had a rake of worm fish and you needed 6lb odd to frame.
I have heard the next round may be at Cotmanhay as the floating duck weed is a problem

Good to see you again on Saturday Pete - must be getting on for 10 years mate, back in our Dams & Lock days!!
I was suprised at the amount of candocks!! But managed to find a couple of holes with some roaches in! Bring on the frosts!
Didnt see the canal in Sandiacre until we went back to the pub, it look like someones turfed it!! Looks like a good league though and will make the trip up the M1 for a few more rounds.

Blimey last time i saw you was in the Plough at Mancetter when i think we won a team event with you,Andy Gee and Roger Baker- I do not venture to the Cov canal any more just really fish the Erewash Luffboro and Stirrup cup.
The canal at the moment is very tricky due to all the duck weed which has been on for the last 6 weeks-shame really as we have had a few good matches at Sandiacre with a lot of big slabs showing
Cotmanhay has not been fished since the national when it was very challenging? :(
Sorry i could not help you with directions but the best bet is always to follow someone-even i get lost!!
The league is very competitve and the banter in the pub is spot on especially when Godfrey gets going
Hopefully see you next round..........ps pike dont count..........hint

2nd rnd Soar Valley W/L.
1. Ant King Trentmen 9kg 5oog peg 2 Brinks Chub on stick float.
2.Dave Petch Quorn 8kg 400 Sutton 3 Tench Plus bits
3.Jon Eccles Long Eaton 7kg 550 peg 32 Sutton 2 Tench plus Roach.
4.S Oaks Wigston 7Kg 400 peg 4 brinks perch /chub
The river still fished fairly well although the roach didnt feed like last week ,probably because of the temp change over the last few days. But there was a Tench fest at Sutton with about 10 Tincas being caught along the whole length.
Should be interesting as the soar champs is at Sutton next week. The league took a familiar look to it after this round after a good comeback from Trentmen

Barrow cobbles was taken out because of the parking and replaced with Bonsors which fished shite with the section being won with 1 kilo of bits. There was supposed to be a section in at the Arches but Brian didnt put it in as one of the pallets was broken on one of the pegs so the Abbey was kept in which fished rock hard again ,apparently there about 8 of our eastern european friends fishing the Abbey when the lads got to there pegs and had been filled in with boilies/pellets etc

too many chiefs and not enough Indians !!! abbey is finished end of, bonsors finished little meadow finished we all talk about everyone wanting a big bag of fish chub and barbel those days have gone you might say its down to the low and clear river and possibly right but its also the best time to take fish .these lads haven't stopped taking fish they are organised course fish make big money 100% profit
if only some of the captains had really listened to i suggested it could of been a 7 team league if not more it was not just about the canal you could of used Sutton, deeps and greens maybe kegworth 1 section on the top end of brinks and 1860
now you have 15 miles of river for 5 peg sections that are 40 yards apart if not more how can you police that
i fear for the league, nothing wrong in running open matches like this winter league spoke to adey higgingbottom in france althought he caught 10lb in the first match hesaid he'l not fish again after the walk he had for a 5 peg section

Joff,
Why do you and Mr Marlow feel the constant need to talk down your local rivers ?
A lot of rivers are fishing hard due to not having a flush through this season some more than others.
However there is a lot of good fishing to be had and from what i have been told a lot of anglers in the league are really enjoying it.
No doubt you have arguments about walks, blah , blah, some of the sections etc but the guys are doing their best and I am sure most are very happy.
If it is not your's or Roger's bag anymore fair enough but please let the other angler's get on with their river sport without all the negative comments you both feel the need to express.

MR MARLOW fishes the glebe now choppy nothing to do with him i'm not talking down the river either but the fact of the matter anglers don't want massive walks for 5 peg sections if you could drive down the river bank most of the anglers would return the picture i'm trying to paint of the river is quite simple easy access use the sections we have good parking sutton has been out standing in the few matches we have had on there you quite simply load your gear on a trolley and walk to your peg deeps and green are the same all i'm doing is trying to do is encourage anglers back to the river
there is no point walking miles to catch nothing and as for 40 yards between pegs thats a joke you might as well go pleasure fishing
club anglers love fishing the brinks and they fish the normal pegs none of this miss 5 and put one in
competition fishing open matches should be every 25 to 30 yards so anglers can see each other. why anglers moan to me about it heaven knows tell the organisers you say you've heard a lot of anglers that are enjoying it so it works both ways if this is right how come all the extra anglers everyone said they could get to fish haven't metalized from what was said at the meeting they should of had at least 3 more teams instead two dropping out nobody loves the rivers more than me and nobody has put in as much work to try and get more access to the river.
enough is enough when it falls on deaf ears

i agree wot you say joff about better access the trouble being the land owners would only allow if crazy amounts of money being offered which cash strapped clubs can no longer afford.a cheaper solution would be to have clapper gates fitted on sections were fences are a obstacle so kit doesnt have to be unloaded like has been done on the bottom section of brinks i drew proctors corner and not having to take my kit of the trolley made the walk quite easy.another point you are missing is you still need 1 or 2 sections that can produce a big weight of chub or bream so anglers of less ability or less time to fish or less kit than the top anglers so they can have their chance of glory .the top teams and anglers would have no leagues to fish without these anglers .if you just put in very fair sections you would lose more teams than you gain for the sake of 1 or 2 natural sections i dont think this is a big sacrifice for you top teams the cream still comes to the top but you are giving anyone a chance of glory this is why the soar valley has lasted longer than most river winter leagues because anyone can win.i for 1 havnot fished for 6 months but i know in this league i could still win of a few pegs so will still fish without part time anglers like us you would have no league by the way the 2 sections ive fished have been very good with bites all match on the pinkie then hemp if it wasnt for all the pike trouble double figures would of been on the cards both matches good fun in my book plus that chance of drawing a chub peg.when you ran the league that year you did a great job just wished you had not given up so easily this year missing the yellow stream taking

good to here from you hammo i didn't realize they had let you out of the funny farm just 6 months
hammo i'm missing it like hell but i'm not around for most of the winter league and next year we have other plans if they come off where the east, and parts of the north will be running a league if plans go together
the river has been fishing all year yet no one was interested back then not so sure if we will see big bags of chub like other years ,but sutton and the deeps are two big fish sections for anyone to win the chances of big bream weights are a lot high than chub weighs now how did the banter go on sunday on proctors corner i bet you couldn't see the next angler and if you started to talk to yourself your end up back in that funny farm

3rd rnd soar valley w/l.
Not too sure about the full result as i had to revert to wearing trainers for this round .but think this is how it went
The form pegs a Sutton on the reed bed switched off and the resident shoals of roach and skimmers had moved.although Pete Jayes had a 6lb Tench for the 2nd week running on the tip. This left the other form pegs on the Brinks weir to throw up the 2 winning weights .
and the back up minor places being filled with the consistent pegs at Kegworth marina which continue to produce good bags of roach keeping the Pike interested on this stretch.
1.A Henry Trentmen 6kilo odd peg1 brinks
2.T Cahill Long Eaton 5kilo odd peg 2 brinks
3.R Perkins Trentmen 5kilo odd peg 13 kegworth
4 T Beech Quorn 4k 870 peg 11 kegworth
5 BUCKO Long Eaton 4k 800 peg 15 kegworth
Teams on the day
1.Trentmen 22pts
2.Long Eaton 26pts
jt 3. Quorn 30pts
wigston 30pts
5.Loughboro 48pts
Team standings after 3 rnds
1. Trentmen 4 PTS

crappity smacking trainers crappity smacking hell you must be fit to run 15miles of river bank
well done for putting the results up
whats happened to wigston they must be missing us !!! i was told they were going to walk it
has anyone seen the two loughborough lads that never got to there pegs i think they are still walking around down the osier beds
just one question how come proctors is in the winter league it was said at the meeting that the only waters to be used were the clubs that are fishing the league so they would benefit from the pegging fee's
the league will see nothing from putting proctors in!!! seams to me too many chiefs are trying to run the league again
bloody hell did bucko have some small hooks with him to catch roach or did he catch them all on chopped worm as there must of been that many there
its always nice to see him in the money

I thought i did a sterling effort bank running.Managed to do sutton ,greens, kegworth and bottom brinks.
That does p me off in a team event when someone draws and doesnt even fish there peg when the points are as close as they are.
Not sure whose decision it is about proctors it must have gone to a captains vote. 2 sections on there this week not the best
of sections either ,plus a new section on ratcliffe deeps.
Think there taking out bottom brinks? Didnt know who owns proctors ?
Yeah Bucko had em all on the hemp , his favourite method ,i know your looking in mate Kegworth marina is solid with roach ,bloody hempheads paradise .

sounds like the soar valley rovers winter league surprised you don't pick your own pegs never mind i bet brian will print some maps off this week to get his team to the pegs crappity smack me thats a 20mile match length now if the french were running this match you'd have 500 pegs on that length
