.For mere mortals like myself,we're only realistically fishing for our section, and a lot of the time the section money only just covers your pools and peg

The majority of us MERE MORTALS in reality are fishing for the section price fund, 99.9 percent of the time because of the exelent quality of the field now a days,
and the fact that say fifty ( anglers) into the possible five or six match winning fliers dont go :(
im all for spreading the money around over the section price fund as this keeps bums on seats as it were, the odds of winning the section are slightly greater than DRAWING  THE   , bridge hole , cable crossing, loads of room, chub/carp bush flier Image  :D :D

paying £15.00 including peg fee seems about right Image
less is more i would think slightly less pools more anglers , more enjoyment.
I really dont fish primerily for the wedge , if i did i would fish the fishomanias etc......
For me its winning the match and beating my peers that means more to me than winning the wedge, The respect gained IS or should be priceless Image
Winning the money for me personally is the second bonus Image

spot on
even so i think a lot of anglers are now derived club fishing or open fishing

take the case of market harborough every other week its a open match and between the open its a club match [a good idea really]but what i've found is the opens had a mix of both club and open match anglers and to be fare the venue allows so many different ways to win that often the club angler would quite easily be in the money and the opens are well attended anywhere from 40 to 50 anglers the club matches at a push would get 10 to 20 anglers.
as time has pass i've noticed the number of the club anglers dropping off and don't really understand as the money is very well spread out and the banter has been brilliant and i fell its a real shame that theses anglers have backed off as most are really good as well in this case i don't think its the price of the pools :-/ :-/

come on lads keep the spirit Image

Hi Bill i tried to charge £20 all in on a 20peg knock up for our works club this weekend and the pensioners tried to chuck me in Image we ended up with £10 pool £6 peg fee
which is about a small clubs limit. Image

I do fish a christmas match at matlock and they have a £100 winner takes all greedy pool on top of the standard £20 all in.
this is ok if its optional and its only once a year.(somebody has a nice christmas) Image

Joff, i agree with you i dont think it is the price of the pools/peg fee or that people think they cant compete, because if you run a free match say twice per season i think the same number of anglers would turn up.
Perhaps its more of a case that anglers have to mutch choice now a days as there are loads of littler matchs to choose to go on

club match commercial 15 pegs £105.00 pegging leaving £45 quid in the pot for £10 pools
surely its better to fish a natural venue where the fee's are no more than £3 total spent £45 leaving £105 to payout its potty in my eyes

Ive read all of this thread... and to be fair, its been a long time since Ive fished big opens ( DAA trent days, mainly)
All things considered ( and bait and travelling costs have to be included in the bigger picture) like many, Id not really be happy paying more than £10 plus peg fee... and wouldnt want to be paying extortionate peg fees either, I think £5 is my max there, and I resent that to be honest, especially with commie rules, and sat on the next crappity smackers lap type pegging
I may be called tight for this.... but times are hard, I know Im only just keeping my nose above water.... and not all of the time at that  Image
