The question of 2lb Roach

Gonna give it a go on The Severn tomorrow.

The word on the bank is, the area i'll be fishing,( if I can get on it ) has produced a fish well in excess of 2lb in the last month  Image and is where I lost the big one last week.

It still seems an enormously long shot, but...you never know !  Image Bit of form in the area Image

Well nothing to report of significance from my recent trip lol.  Image

Just the idea of trying to catch a roach this big from the Severn seems slightly mad to me, when i'm sitting at home with my sanity.

But ... i'll be having another go when I can Image. Time of year doesnt help mind.

Interestingly, the one I hooked was on a single grain of hemp on a light link ledger, fished over my stick line.

Something I hadn't tried before. ;)

I had one of 2lb 4oz on the R Yare last Tuesday. It came out of the blue really as I had a truly mixed bag with roach between 6oz and 1lb 4oz, skimmers between 8oz and 1lb 8oz, odd dace and perch and even 2 cocky ruffe. As the big one looked really special I walked down the bank to borrow some scales. My mate and I used the scales to weigh our nets of fish and he had 45lb and I had 44lb. We both had one skimmer about 3lb (have to be 4lb on the river too count as a bream). I am sad to say that the big roach was caught on a feeder rather than a float but there again I am glad to have seen it yet alone catch it.

As soon as it went back, I thought 'NO PHOTO', what a burke, 4 blokes with 4 phones and not one us thought aboput a photo, I think we were all in awe!
