There used to be trophies/cups awarded to the first six placed teams in the National Championships. What were they all called?
Also there was a cup/trophy presented to the angler with the best weight from the winning team; what was the name of this award?
When Leicester won the National Championships on the River Severn in 1971 who won the award for the highest weight in the team?

No Keef, Robin Harris won, - 40 lb 5 oz from section A.
I think Phil Coles won on the Bristol Avon.

Anything to oblige Joffers old boy:-
Joe Brennan, Jim Antill, T Church, K. Fijalkowski, Doug Fisher, Ron Haynes, Alan Homer, L. Preece. B. Rimmer, Bert Simmill, W. Walker, Cec Williams.
res Dave Pinches, J. Godridge, Kevin Skidmore.
Ron Haynes was runner-up with 33-1-8.
The Peek Cup went to the fifth team and the Carborundum Cup went to the sixth team.
Just before this match Newark's Mac Willis was winning match after match on the River Trent on hemp and tares. All the rags said it was impssible to do it on the Severn. Result, Section G Stourport area Section winner Mac Willis (Newark) 18-2-0. Not sure if he caught on tares though.
Happy Days,

I drew at grim Grimley on the outside of a crappity smack bottomless pit of dead water. Hadn't got enough line on me crappity smack reels to even fish the bottom. To top it all it was more than a crappity smack parrot cage, I may as well been pegged in a crappity smack phone box.
I had 1-13-0 of the smallest bleak in the world, not a good effort in a weight match.
Some things never change, I was opposite another crappity smack boat on Sunday and the inevitable happened.
Just call me lucky

I was in the side that won the 71 "all england" it was a massive match it seemed everybody went back,we got a terrific cheer even from the brummies in the crowd, they were yellow stream off that despite having thousands of members who fished the severn BAA had brought in 2 ringers Ashurst and Toulson. As for the cup we took it back ,had to have a dent repaired and hope it wasnt noticed. The medals were great then gold with an enamelled nfa badge in the middle.Although we won again it was never as good as that day .Its sad that the highlight of your fishing career was 40 years ago.Ah well.
