evening boyz, i use a wide range of floats for b&j fishing, only because i fish some varing venues. dds 6's turbetini concords all the way to .25grm mk2 carbos. just depends. as for shotting on standard rigs is a staggered bulk or bulk and 2/3 droppers. if i b on a pile of tinys i'd fish .1 or .2 ollevetti rig 10 inches from my hook with 3 13's btw(which u can also bulk together) 8-) 8-)

Sorry Ian..Welcome to the site mate.

For anyone who doesn't know Ian he was a former member of Essex County VDE until his move to possibly the top team in the country, Daiwa Dorking.

Nice to have you on board, your input will be invaluable.

Gudgeon???...i think we used to have some of those in the canals around the Midlands. ;)

I wonder if using a shot that close to the hook would help spot bites better when on a pile of tiny roach?

I've gone through loads of float patterns over the years (got 200 Dufils stashed away but havent used them for 2 seasons now) and switched from PB14s to Dufils to Browning Smeraldos to Garbolino DDS11s. Still have a few Desque Erics set up just in case i need something even more sensitive (not lately!). The DDS11s have an ultra fine plastic bristle which work well although i do swap it for a stiffer fibre bristle on some rigs. I personally think bristle diameter is more important than material and use fibre more often than not as they illuminate in the light unlike a painted wire tip. The DDS11 is pretty good for 90% of my joker fishing these days:

If you think the Walsall canal is ruined  you can always get some one else to fish with Ade and Budgie on Sunday!
