YA taff stick to fishing will you know lets get back to tares
When I was at school ( more years ago than I care to remember) we spent the whole 6 weeks holidays fishing hemp and tares down the Trent at Willington cos we couldn't afford maggots and casters, tares were cheap.
we had some proper nets of roach
Did you carry on fishing when the air raid warnings went off ?

Course we did, the Germas who bombed us were about as succesfull as Man City lol
many thanks to bill yards an dave c.
cooked up some tares using both methods and both batches are brill, tested some using a couple of hooks to nylon, nice and soft to hook swung them around a couple of times and they stayed on hook but pulled off with very slight pressure,
sorted !!!
will be trying them out tomorrow (oh i mean today)at coors charity open.once again cheers.
No worries Glyn. Happy to help it just goes to show that, although Bill and I do them differently, the results arent always that different. Just a matter of which method you prefer.
I hope they worked.
As for hemp I do something like 40 pints of the stuff when I go to Ireland (for two of us).
I know everyone has their different ways of doing it but I use a very old large saucepan with a good fitting lid. Half fill the pan with water and put a teaspoon (plenty) of bicarb in. Stick what hemp you need in the pan. Bring to the boil and let it boil for about ten minutes. switch off, put the lid on and let it cool down naturally. Most will split as it cools down.
Easy peasy, don't take too long
OK just that I've had some and it cooked really well i know dave Clayton always shops around for his in farm shops pet shops and sometimes he just covers it with cold water and leaves it in the fridge until the weekend and thats always splits but the kernels are easy to hook
what size hooks you use for tare fishing on the whip as ive had a few nice roach out this week but I missed loads of bites it got to where I counted to 3 before I strike with the whip all good fun though
