I would like to congratulate Paul on a amazing weight on what was probably a difficult day!. I started off like a train with 2 carp( one about 1.5lb and 1 about 4lb) in the net in the first 2 chucks, then it started to get worse, and the last 2+ hours only but 2 small roach in the net, and all this when the water in front of me is fizzing like a jacuzzi!!!

CON GRATS Paul

Let me also add my congrats to Paul on a truly tremendous result at Chubbs. I would like to put in my two penneth about the final weght which was disputed by Paul in the belief that he did actually make the majic ton. At Pauls weigh in, it was necessary for the scales man to split the bag into 4 seperate weighs, silver fish first
1st weigh 2--1--00
2nd 17-2--00
The third weigh was hampered by the fact that the scales attachment broke from the tripod and Mark had to valliantly do the weigh by hand, no mean feat with over 50lb of fish in the net! Not helped by watchers [myself included] incorrectly believing that the scales had gone round more than the twice
required to weigh the maximumum 60lb. Mark put us right on that one. the weight was recorded as 56lb making a running total of 75lb 3ozs.
The 4th weigh was unfortunately not written down but added up as 24 lb giving a total of 99lb 3ozs. Paul later felt that the 4th weight was actually called as 24lbs 14 ozs which would have given him the total weight of 100lb 1oz. but he was gratious enough to accept that the call had been recorded and could not be altered.
A few lessons for all of us methinks.

It always pays to have spares....
Yesterday while we were weighing in on our match our weigh sling split right open. Image
Good job the fishery owner was there with a spare, We shall be carrying a spare from now on needless to say. :)

Yamo, there's always the willows for your ton mate.... Recent weights have been in excess of 100lb for the 5 hour matches Image
So there's hope yet mate. I'm still waiting for my first ton, 87lb is my best but reaching the magical ton is a goal I have yet to achieve and look forward too.
Having said that, with your weight of 99lb 3oz I can imagine how you felt, I would have been the same :D

.......just to add to the controvesy, I reckon Yamo lost more than enough at the weigh in - bet if he'd have been elsewhere where they just shout a weight whilst the needles all over the place he'd have done 110lb plus  Image

.............now retires into the background with hard hat :D

Dont throw away your hard hat TK, bring it to the next match, I can use it to keep my fish in whilst waiting for the scales. it will save getting me net wet!

Every match 'placing' is worth a point Si - so ounces different can be worth megga points with us sometimes Image (but not when it applies for me, only against me) :'( eg The Wedge did 14.02 last match to beat me by 2 oz and score a point off me, I was followed by MrV with 11lb odd so sods law prevailed with no interveening anglers and I only reduced his lead over me by 1 pt

1st gets 30 pts
2nd 29 pts
3rd 28 pts and so on

Dry nets get 5 pts for turning up
