Taking my daughter on the T & M canal at Rugeley on Sunday (14th). Anyone fancy a few hours. Being so mild it should fish ok with "normal baits", squatt, caster etc. Loads of Roach, perch, gudgeon etc.The stretch never gets fished these days so if you are up for a few hours, let me know. Probably about 9am.

Big roach all through the whole length now. Since Rugeley and Brereton folded about 6 years ago, it has hardly been fished. Had a few roach over the pound mark last summer. Pear Tree pub own the Church length now, but hardly anybody fishes it.  :o

I think you are right TK. I know I was at the very top of the length towards Wolsley Bridges (Taft Farm) I had about 7lb for second in the match. Some very nice person won it with a double figure crap off the Turnover length I think :'( :'(

Don't tell me after all those years of trying I finally managed to score more section points than you in a MESC match - :D

I was always trying to avoid you in my section but you crafty b*gger kept moving your name about (same as me) on the entry lists :D :D :D

There was no hiding place on the MESSC matches TK. ::) I alweays used to drop on for Peter Plummet or you from MEB and Phil Nield from Ironbridge. Good crack them days though. How I drove home from some of them I will never know (usually one eye closed so I could only see one set of white lines) :-[

Wasnt that the year we were announced as winners, then Les Allen put in a complaint one of his team had been given the wrong weight and all hell broke loose :D

Remember the Les Allen dispute back at the nosh up/presentation at Wyrley Old Hall over a weight card

but.................

.........the original reason for the question was I thought your team might have missed it because I thought we (South Staffs) won it that year!!!!
Mind must say we had a decent team out because it was a combination of the old South Staffs (Walsall/W'ton) plus Tipton/Dudley following a reorganisation. I even convinced Kempy and Pete Palmer (but it took a bit of doing till they saw the results in practice when them lock gates opened) that 1gm gudgeon rigs on your feet was the method to knock out a couple of lb per man of gobies for good section points.

Dispute on then........who won Image

I'll have to track the trophy down :D

You may be right......I dont think we won it, I think we would have been second if the results had stood. I remember it involved old George Conway and Les Allen nearly coming to blows Image
Did the result not get held back a few days until you or someone else contacted the NFA to see what the actions were if it was recorded wrongly on a weighing in card Image

Yes - got to dig into the old grey cells, but seem to recollect that 'advice' was sought - but the signed weighing in card (and originally announced result) eventually stood.
Dain't know old George was nearly up to fisticuffs - I was probably going over the the result board again in the back room LOL

Mind after all that, I remember that although I'd got the method I had an iffy draw three/four above the locks and knew I was always up against them below that first lock (Boggs?) down from the A5. And I had a mare of a match :'(

Finished up on the stretch behind the factories on Power Station Road. Fished for 3 hours (11 - 2)Had about 5lb of fish. Most on breadpunch, but a few small squatt fish early. Last 30 minutes had a perch about 1lb and a couple of 4oz roach on caster. Believe it or not, never saw a boat!!!! :D
Daughter hada few gudgeon, great big things about 16 to the lb ::)
