Well what a day....
Rained all day again.  >:(
At the draw I drew peg 21 which I hoped would be out of the wind but it wasn't. It was 14.5 meters wide which was a bonus as some of the other pegs were 16+ meters wide.
When I set up the wind was not too bad so I decided to fish the paste to the far bank and down the track. With it raining I couldn't be arsed setting up loads of stuff. I also had a method already setup in my rod bag too.
I had setup and went for a chat, having not set my bait out or made my slop for feeding with the  paste as there was 40 mins to go before 10am. Tink the ba*tard blew the whistle early and I had to run back to my peg and do everything in half the time   :D
Put my ball of paste in my pot and then capped it off with some slop and shipped out, tipped the cup and 'plop' in it goes. Waited about 3 mins and the polyball disappeared and the pole tip shot round. The result a nice carp about 4lb. During the first hour I had 5 fish then it happened  >:( >:(
The wind picked up and made fishing the far bank too much of a struggle. I tried down the track and had bugger all, not even a sniff  :-?
Word on the bank was that Tinky had packed up  Image and about 10 mins later a wet looking womble came walking round the pool....

Image

Poor Tinky was freezing, wet and well pis*ed off  Image Image

Method time I thought.....this turned out to be another adventure lol.
Casting was a bit dodgy as my brolly was in the way for start. Got it where I wanted it, waited about 5 mins and the tip shot round. I struck and felt the fish for about 2 second then nothing, I though bugger its pulled out. Reeled in to find my hook length was gone  Image Strange never had that happen before.
Tied a new hook length and cast in again.......5 mins later the tip shoots round again and I strike into a fish for about 5 second, then again it goes dead  Image I reel in and low and behold the line is still there but the hook has gone. FFS!! I'm thinking.
I tied ANOTHER hook length, bare in mind my hands are freezing and wet. Anyway the next fish took the lot again   :D :D By this time I was completely pis*ed off and decided to struggle in the wind and go back on the paste, but I was too hard to hold and was beginning to hurt my back. So I packed up with 40 mins to go  Image Image
5 hours for 5 fish weighing 19lb dead. Very hard fishing again. Where the winner was fishing it was like a mill pond ::) Enough said.

My peg.....

I tried the top 2 several times throughout the match and never had a sniff on it. I caught most of my 34lb bag on the paste at 7m and the last 30 mins I went out at 14.5m which was 1.5m short of the far bank on my peg to net 2 more decent Carp and pulled out of another one on the meat. I wish I'd have struggled more now at 14.5 as I never fed a thing on this line apart from the initial pot of micros and meat but they were deff there.

I'd like to thank Tinky for getting me out of the S**t as I couldn't find my feeding cups anywhere but I knew he'd have some and he kindly lent me them so thanks for being a good sport Mr Tink, I'm sorry you had a dry net Image

I did forewarn about the herons but forgot to mention those red signal crayfish :(

Just had a gander at the weights..........fantastic compared with what we experience on the Curse matches - and 19lb would have framed 9 times out of 10 on ours LOL

I should have done better really but once the wind picked up and spoilt my plan I lost interest. Everytime I want or have to fish long its bloody windy.
I have no idea why my knots were failing ::) Not happened before.
I should have stuck at my track swim a bit more perhaps and had it been a club match I would have done but it was too late to catch up and I had seen and heard other people catching alot more so I couldn't be arsed :D
Oh and I wanted to walk the bank with Tinky to keep him company :P
There's always another time Image
I think Conna would have had 2 more fish if I hadn't have gone talking to him, sorry dude :-[ You still beat me though Image

At the time I always think 'What am I doing' out in the rain, soaking and freezing cold. Then after when I'm at home with a beer I look back and laugh and think what I should have done, then kick myself :D
I did force myself to fish long for longer than I wanted though despite the wind.
Had a good day out thinking back, only spoilt by the wind. :)

no problem dude always help a friend.well that was probably the worst match that i have fished ever,i knew before the match that i was not going to do any good you just know call it instinct i dont know, every think seemed to go wrong from the start, Imagefirst i dont think i should have set the feeder up that was my first mistake :-/secondly i thihk i should have put a 14.5 metre line in instead of trying to fish 16.metre which was virtually impossible due to the wind and ofcourse the cars that was parked behind me >:(i also did not get my feeding right from the start of the match,so all in all it was sh!t so simple has had his day again but never mind si what goes round comes round and you no what sprucy says fishing has got this habit of coming round and biting you on the wobbly cheeks lol Imagethe next one is willow marsh see you there.
