Grueller match 10 - a new king is crowned

Well all the talk in the 24hrs leading up to the climax match was could Simps avoid drawing a cock peg again, would he have a grueller, would he turn up to face the pressure or would his alarm clock go off��.. Grin

The Chockie Munster turned up at chateau TK early for this finale��.he must be up for it thought TK, wanting to put the memory of past gruellers behind him. Tongue

Car loaded and off we sets, arriving just turned 8.20am. A look around and Simps alarm has gone off as there's quite a few gathering outside the gates.

Time ticks on, still a few faces to show, big Dave Bezza is sorting out at the gates as all his gears goes in Ian H�s van for the mile trip to the KP.

Time still ticks on as a few more faces turn up��.at 8.35am it�s time to move and there�s still two no shows. Smiley Smiley

A breeze through security, little H aint on guard. Smiley

Arriving at the pool the BDM is greeted with a couple of disasters��..first the place looks like Beirut�� Smiley Smiley Smiley

There aint a bramble in sight��but theirs some good work done on the pegs. Smiley

Second��.

Simps tells BDM he�s got a flat �Smiley Smiley Smiley

The place is pegged out��in fact there�s a couple of �extra� pegs��.a new 13 and 16.

It�s 4 sections of 5 , nice and �easy� cuss of the two no shows.

The draw takes place. BDM has wanted 10, 11 or �old� 13 all week. Pegs come and go until there is two left in the hat

4 or 10. BDM tells Phil B to dip and pull out 4��..

But what does he do��..picks no 10 leaving BDM on 4, �Cry Cry Cry

Now BDM is in trouble��.not only a flat tyre��. he�s deliberately only bought his cut pole and is gunna have fun if the chublets play ball.

The rest of the draw?

Well a few gum faces as the flyers went to��..

Now just who was it that said to me �No wander Simps has a permanent smile the way he draws� �Smiley

Yep, his nearest �contenders� for the grueller king title need him �on the rocks�, but he�d only gone and pulled out plum peg 1 with poor old Zorro one down from the hurdy gurdy.

Just before the off, with Chockie Munster on a favored peg 3, he throws down the gauntlet to BDM. A mars bar bet. Did his insatiable appetite for chockie drive him to take advantage of the BDM��he was full aware that BDM would be mentally distracted during the next 4 hours with the thoughts of that flat tyre��.. Tongue

Not with all his faculties intact, the BDM accepted the bet��

The off. BDM and Chockie Munster are still cupping in as Yamo off peg 4 nets chublet no 1 Smiley

Yamos no 2 chublet and BDM aint even put a maggot on Smiley

More disaster back on 3 as the Chockie Munster smashes a 4th section 5 mins into the match. Smiley

Well bites were at a premium and BDM was a tad outgunned on the lackie front with his doubled up no 2. First bite and he�s brambletised. New hook on and second bite it�s straightened out. �Smiley

Meanwhile there�s a bit of gnashing off teeth elsewhere��..Yamo gets seen off a couple of times as does the CM. On pegs 1 and 2 (Big Col) all isn�t going to plan as they are dry after an hour. �Shocked

Suddenly a whoop goes up as Simps �nets� a gong��dry net avoided and the title may be his after all��. Smiley

Simps starts picking up a few bits and pieces whilst a walk around with the camera reveals its fishing hard all around��Bezza is owning up to starting to find a few gonks while MarkV is trying to avoid em off peg 10. Smiley

Shark has lost a chub down in the corner and maybe a Mars bar bet with Yamo.

Cotti just chunters� Wish we�d fished the cut� whilst Sprucey just wanders what he�s done to deserve it��.. Wink Grin

MarkV has a merry dance with a pound plus Kinver on his no 3 lackie whilst Harry, disappointed that there�s no barges about tries to pull down a tree only to leave his no 12 lackie and stonfo up it. Grin

Back to the action.

The Chockie Munster starts edging ahead in �A� section with a few more chublets running to 10 oz that he tries to blag BDM that they are only 4 ouncers. Yep heard that one before��. Smiley

The CM show also included a masterful demonstration on how to remove a snagged chublet from the far side brambles, including it doing three twists, two somersaults and a pike as it shot 5 yards through the air��. �Smiley

Big Col then picks up a couple on the trot��are they gunna show �late� Smiley

Nope. Smiley

Well I say nope but with �three mins left on the clock Simps is in again��..BDM clocks it and tells CM that �Simps has got a bream on� as it flounders on the surface 9 yards across. �Smiley

CM has a loff to himself �That�s done me the section and a mars bar� as it is netted.

The whistle��..well at least it was only 4 hours this concluding grueller.

Other tales��..

After chasing the gonks on the joker, Bezza whipped out his lob worm, had some chub and also got smashed up a couple of times, proving there are a few fish on the rocks.

In fact one double figure jobie kept cruising past Zorro, but wouldn�t look at his pinkie.

Ian H, all the way from Bath also got seen off a couple of times from the remaining bush to his left

All in all the series has produced a few memorable moments, and it�s managed to live in the main up to its reputation. Smiley Smiley Smiley

Thanks all who participated, it�s been good to see a few new faces on the bank, whilst sadly it looks like we also lost a few along the way.

I know I broke my pole cupping in bait then some spawny four eyed crappity smack had a 2lb+ bream with 2 minutes to go and it cost me TWO mars bars.

I had people taking the p!ss out of me all day because I am too shy to reply to their vicious remarks....

Not that i'm bitter about it!

Good report TK i chuckled a few times and again well done Simon I KNEW YOU COULD TAKE THE PRESSURE i gave you trumpet lessons earlier in the week

Goughy and myself will look forward to 2009/2010 grueller cup hopefully we will fish all or most of them

But well done TK you coped with the pressure of shall we fish there or here with skill well done mate you made a few lads happy on a saturday better than watching the tv

i gave you trumpet lessons earlier in the week

Sprucey taught me NEVER to blow my trumpet as it always turns round and bites you in the wobbly cheeks

I wonderd what i had got myself into at the start of the series as i never fish during the winter months

but must admit i really enjoyed the Banter and the fishing too

Well well well never seen so many people at grueller match at KP before, but a good turn out shame the fishing did not live up to it. I waited till the end with big Col squeezing past me with the biggest smile ive seen in many a year as he plonked his gear down on peg 2, he was followed by simple brandishing an even bigger smile as he plonked down on peg 1. What A DRAWING ARM THIS guy has on the KP! Dont think he's ever drew less than 5 in all the matches he's had on there. Anyway I decided to leave my Bolshevik hat in the car to see if it would change my luck and in the first 5minutes i felt it had worked, 2 small chub and a preganant pongo. I missed 3 bites then lost 2 more chub in the brambles, the heat was on as it was reported that Shark had edged ahead in the mars bar hunt with a perch and a chub caught on punched herring. TK and i had a flutter on who would be the first bank walker, TK won as it was actually he who walked the bank first to get some piccs.

The tension was red hot with more missed bites and another brambletised chub. A guy form the village people sat by me and told me what to do, he was in the know you see ! I had a little moan at the pegs and how far they were off the water only for him to explain it was actually him who had dug em out the previous day!!!

He gave me some great tips all which included baits i didnt have and off he went with a right smug look on his face. With my old man struggling on dead man's dyke i decided to play my ace card and ring a company known as ' i want a boring escort.com'.. i ordered their very best escort and asked him to plonk himself down next to simple. He turned up not long after and at first he did the trick giving simple a life story which cauised simple to leave his box hoping the escort would wander off. Indeed he did but this little man decided to have a blatant pee by ratbag's car !

I trundled on but no more bites, frustration kicked in but a gander to my left saw Harry the hitman stuck in the tree with his orange zoo creature elastic caught in the branches , the look on Gez's face was a picture as the hitman slowly but surely plundered the roots off the tree and dragged the tree towards him, one thing for sure the line wasnt gonna break, eventually after a titantic heave the elastic snapped and the hitman was left emotionally looking at his beloved laccy thinking of all the good times they've had. NOT TO BE DONE THO THE HITMAN WENT in and caught a chublet to avoid the DNW, well done Harry !

Minutes passed by like hours one more brambletised chub wrecked another rig and i decided to call it a day. Another grueller, last in my section but again a great laugh. i also lost the mars bar challenge to the shark and lost my 4th section in the KP. After several attempts to retrieve it shark and budgie combined produced a rake on some string and got it back for me, thanks guys, especially budgie i owe you one mate!

Oh and before i forget TK you killed me with your comment about Ball it in's consistency !

On a happier note had 3 hours down the cut this afternoon by the boat yard and had about 5lb of stamp roach and skimmers. Enjoyed it !
