A lot of us use the QE2 bridge and Dartford crossing for our fishing. Just seen this.

It seems that the barriers are on their way out and a new system is intended to be put in place for November onwards.

Some of us already have a Dart Tag and pay 30% less than the usual £2 fee to cross. I got an email the other day stating they would be contacting me soon with details of how to switch my account to the new system.
It may be worth those of you who do use the crossing to open an account. Not only will you pay less but will remove the risk of forgetting to pay and getting a fine.
I doesn't matter if you only use it very infrequently as any deposits you make do not run out and can always be reclaimed.
