MONK Match Lake 2

#1

Unread post by Dave C »

Right the time has finally arrived and the first match of our  short season is next Saturday 5th April.

We have pegs 45 to 66 which some think are the best average pegs on the 3 match lakes. One of the main problems on Monk is that its open to the wind especially the match Lakes, and often the fish will follow the wind.

So,
1) is it going to be windy
2) which direction is it going to come from
3) will peg 45 still be the flier peg and produce 100lb of barbel.
4) will I draw a sheltered peg again this year and be able to fish in my T shirt while those on the far side are shivering in the head on cold wind.

Hi Dave,

I'll be there! I assume it'll be a 8:30 draw and fish from 10-4?

Cheers,

Graham

As always Graham. Dont forget though if you want brekkie you need to be there a bit earlier, plus you will need time to dip your nets as well.

I spoke to the fishery today and the match lakes are producing well. The barbel are starting to show so it is looking good. Until the weather takes a turn for the worse and the temperature drops on Saturday that is.

If its a North wind as predicted then it will be blowing from behind peg45 across to the other corner of the lake meaning pegs 47 to 55 will be the most sheltered and those on the causeway will be shivering their nuts off. Image Image

Mmmmmmmmm strange, the forcast I've seen is predicting a low of 8°C for Friday night with a 7 mph westerly wind and for Saturday,  11°C  with a NNW wind of 15 mph with a chance of light rain showers.
It does however predict that it will drop to 1°C on Saturday night.

But if  TK's right, that means we'll only need 2 nets instead of 3.
Should get a chance of a bite to eat and a sip of drink between fish at least. ;)
