Are you sure it was a pike bite. Might have been a hungry Polish person that got disturbed having a picnic

tk im not sure the name of the cut but beechdale social used to own the stretch but i heard they'd given up up due to the canadian green weed. The Stretch is from the marina at the back of baileys down past bushell jones school and dudley feilds est past the back of the bt depot and on to the old cement work then through beachdale down towards the old power staion junction.
The roach was in the reeds just at the back of the school. The school is at the bottom of my street and i can walk to it in a minute then through the fence what aint there and in on the water

Know it well ME
I lived on the Mossley for 20 years when I was a kid before moving out in the sticks
When I was a kid the then to be future father in law lived in the house on the junction right opposite the boatyard at the back of Baileys.
It was a ruin, but still with a roof on etc when I was a kid. In fact we demo'd a lot of it and half the bricks from the house ended in the cut there - we used to stack em on the bridge and then push em all off........pity any boats trying to navigate the cut then. Hope MGB dont see this
The father in law was a brickie on the cuts, and his dad was was well lets say 'high up' with BWB and did 50 years with em - he was deceased before I met the missus but I've got a bit of commerative paperwork stacked away featuring him.
Heard quite a few tales from the father in law (rip) about when he was a kid and used to collect the 3d a day ticket money from the anglers on Baileys.
But that's a few stories for another day........
