ok kiddo to be fair i was confident in getting a few bites as the peg looks the part at the end a barbel angler said almost to the word what you've just said its a shallow gravel run normally loads of small barbel and chub on it
all i can say is they just haven't turned up there yet 16s hook longish tail not OTT on the hook length just odd dace
i'm not going until the week before now kiddo but will chat on sunday mate
Besthorpe is about 10miles above where you fished yesterday with the new A46 road it takes me around 40mins to get there
The reason I ended up going yesterday is because I left my collection of tips on the bank Sunday I woke up Monday at about 2am thinking I hadn't seen them when I put my tackle away so I got up to take a look 20years of assorted tips
So yesterday I chucked some kit in as I was in Loughborough for the morning then headed up
Guess what they were still standing up in the stingers
predro looking at the banks its not seen many high tides the highest point sunday was 10inch at besthorpe quite a few fishing yesterday yet no one on a float it must be a no no there
besthorpe used to be awesome with the float back in the day problem is now 1 bite on the tip gives u 10lb n ull struggle to get 10lb of bites on the float now
sutty your right i think all over the country its either very small fish or very big how many 2lb barbel do you see or chub river bream seam to be getting bigger which tells you they don't seam to compete for food as much
anglers tell you they are scaling down yet when you look at a barbel anglers tackle its like tow rope and they always get chances thoughout the days fishing

Personally think we lost a lot of barbel to the 2007 floods as you could almost guarantee a whisker from any area. These days you have to find the fish as the majority were moved from their original location
.Theres more silver fish simpley cos theres more food available.
Thia season i inted fishing lighter gear and chasing the small barbel.........see what the future holdzzzzzz - EH!
