Just wondering how do you buy your new gear. Not Bait.
Thank you.
Thank you.
How to you buy your Tackle ?
I much prefer to go to the local tackle shop but as I'm not on a greatly reduced income I also shop on line as its cheaper :(

I go to Ians and stand around until they get sick of the sight of me. For big purchases I shop around then go in and see if he can match the prices. On terminal tackle I just buy it from him. Its not all about the price for me though, if I buy something from Ians and have a problem I know they always do their best to try and help you out. For instance I had a number 6 go on my pole while shipping back whilst pleasure fishing on a Saturday. A quick phone call, a short drive and I was fishing again within 30minutes
Its kind of out of the way a liitle bit for me to get there too. Especially when I drive past Alans tackle in bloxwich twice a day for 5 days.

I buy bigger items from Fosters tbh, as they offer the best prices locally, I also use Willenhall Angling centre, as they are big enough to roughly compete, small stuff I tend to get from Allens in Walsall. I love Tamworth Tackle, Kev there is ace, real nice guy who will do anything to help, even if it means he makes less money. Id would go there regardless of price if it was nearer just for teh service, the crack and the banter, its a proper tackle shop and I try to visit every couple of months if I can

I never buy crappity smack all
I think the last item of gear I bought was a brolly from Ian's, - it was the cheapest I could find and has outlasted the past dozen expensive brollies by a mile.

looking at the tackle trade the small shops need all the help they can get local advice is key they help sell club books inform anglers were to go fishing and always try to please customers
you only have to look at what the super markets have done to the high streets around the country .once all the small shops have gone or been taken over by the multiples do you really think the price are going to stay low i very much doubt it
here here to the local butchers i hope this meat scandal makes people realise how honest they are and beef is beef and butchers are not just for christmas

I fully agree Joff, however my nearest shop, Allens, is extremely expensive, Fosters are hugely cheaper.... and the small shop I love is about 12/13 miles away

Im all up for supporting my local tackle shop and like Bullah says Fosters take a bit of beating
great bunch of staff and friendly atmosphere, spent hundreds there over the years (don't tell the wife )
Recently visited a tackle shop not a million miles from Brownhills to buy A Zippo Hand Warmer
Tackle shop price £24 that's without the fuel which was £3.25
Went home brought the exact same one £12.95 plus £2.20 for the fuel on the net
That's a big saving
