looks like John Carding from the 70`s. He wrote a book called continental match fishing. Not here now took his own life.

I can remember knocking on John's door at 32 Pynham Close ,Abbey Wood and introducing myself as a keen match angler and interested in his writings in the book.
Later I joined the club 279 ac..derived from the London 2-dock,7 dock and 9 dock at Tilbury..as members lke
Paul Wiltshire,Sid Best,John Wiltshire etc did work there.
We lasted many years and fished A.T winter leagues against DELCAC and went on to some 'semi's'
I was at a team meeting one night at the Woolwich Arsenal club when we heard the news that John was no longer with us and did what he did..sad.
Enjoyed some good days with him on the bank.
Attended the service as did David Hall and many other friends.
Sadly missed.
Why...?

I think the guys I remember were (hope I have the names right) Joe Payne, Bob Hursey and would it be John Daniel.
Are the still fishing because it was a long time back?

Mullarkey, wagnmag, Hello to you people on this thread. I'm researching some history of my local area of Abbey Wood and trying to find some information about John. Would it be possible to ask you about him at all? Thanks, Nick
