New Forum Updated.

#1

Unread post by Simple »

I have locked the old thread and started a new one for this Forum.

There will obviously be lots of changes and things to update as not everything could be migrated over.
Personal messages could not be migrated but you can still access them on the old forum, there is a link at the top of the Board Index. (not live yet)

I need to update people's user groups i.e HanKat Crony, Cashmores etc You can apply to join groups in your Control Panel also, that would help out a lot.
Your username on here might not match what it was on the old forum. The forum name here is what your old User ID used to be on the old forum.
Click View Profile to see what yours was. That is the name you will need to login with first time on here until you change it.

That is Joffs....

You can go to your control panel and change it to whatever you want anyway.

Whilst in your control panel you can change the Forum style in Board Preferences. There is only one in there atm that makes the forums look like facebook but I will be adding more. Dark themes, light themes etc.

I will continue to update stuff and keep you posted.
If you have any questions please ask

It is done.
I am editing a lot of stuff at the minute.
Should be live later on today or tomorrow night.

To login you will need your username and email address.
Click login and then click 'Forgotten Password'
Fill in username and email.
A new password will be sent. Follow the instructions in the email.
After you can of course change this password yourself via the profile page when you have logged in.

They are installing a tool so I can send out new passwords for everyone

Will update again soon.

Had to go back for now sorry. This is a pain in the wobbly cheeks rage rage rage

You need to get your User ID and email address from the old forum then use the Forgotten Password link on this new site. Use the User ID in Username.
You will then get a email with instructions.

If you go to User control Panel then Profile then Edit Avatar then select Gallery Avatar.
All the old user avatars are in there. Just select yours.

There is a bug at the moment when trying to upload a Avatar from a mobile device and some PC's.
You will get an error. Start a new topic in here and attach the picture you want as your avatar and I will sort it for you. :tiphat :thumsup

Changed the number of failed password attempts from 5 to 10..
Seem's 5 is not enough to remember your password for some people :facepalm :rofl

Added a re direct so all simplematchfishing.co.uk or .uk traffic comes here now rather than the old site. You can still access the old site via the link at the top of the Board Index.

For this site, the /forum2/ has not changed yet. I will leave that for a while yet. It will change to /forum/
For the old site, it remains /forum/ but will be changing to /forumold/ when I make the switch over.

Also added a Theme called 'Basic' which you can change too here http://simplematchfishing.co.uk/forum2/ucp.php?i=179
Its a full width template and it looks great on my phone as well as on the big pc screen. Very well made indeed.
I am trying to find a good dark theme also. :tiphat

Added 'Personal Text' back.
It used to be on the old site. You can add what you want and it will appear under your avatar (if you have one) or name
It can be edited here.... http://simplematchfishing.co.uk/forum2/ucp.php?i=178

Updated a new sitemap to google last night so searches from google and bing etc come here. Site links will take some time to regenerate.
If you come from google etc you might get a "GET /YaBB.pl" error. Just click 'Board Index' and carry on :tiphat

Yeah they stay there until they are opened by the other person... In this time you can edit the PM if you wish before they open it :thumsup
