The first round was fished on the Coventry Canal in and around the Hartshill area, 'A' section was at Quarry Lane, 'B' section was from Clock Bridge through to the Anchor Inn and 'C' and 'D' sections were from the Anchor Inn through to Springwood.

There were 78 anglers booked in to fish, this was 17 teams of four and individual anglers, though some changes were made on match day. The fishing was hard in places, cold water having gone in from ice melt a couple of days before the match.

The top ten points are all very close with a spread of ten points seperating them.

The next round is on 22nd January 2017 and will be fished in Coventry, draw will be at the Blue Boar at 7.45am, to allow extra travel time, fishing 10.00am to 3.00pm.
