Just a quick question
We have all seen the increase in popularity for natural venues plus the silverfish side to commercials and i'm wondering now with the price of fuel falling are you as a match angler branching out further to fish venues . I know i have enjoyed the River Glen over the past month and the competition i fish the Drennan pairs which is over the River Glen and the Little Wellend you could quite easily double up in a Van like the old days . The cost of bait is nothing to fish these matches only your pools and petrol and a breakfast if needed i know the same goes for silverfish matches on commercials the cost is very little at this time of year .
The river Wye has been fantastic while the levels are good the stainy even my canal is seeing 60 to 70 anglers once again so are anglers starting to travel around more . i could say on my canal you can quite easily double up in a van as sections are not far apart plus at this time of year the fishing can be outstanding if you are prepared to travel . Ok i should say weather permitting as the roads haven't been at there best first thing in the mornings come the spring we should see come great turnouts .
THE B SIDE TO THIS QUESTION
Name your 4 best venues for winter fishing

To answer joff's original question .... I travel up 100 miles in the winter ..... For me the draws
Old Nene at March
Severn at Shrewsbury (it's back ..... Just need the level to drop)
Severn at stourport (see above, also same match day as Shrewsbury)
Wye at Hereford
I'd love to fish the drennan pairs at spalding but can't commit to series.
The common denominator ...... Roach!!!
