food for thought a good read

agreed - to be honest I'm normally only using that size of hook on somewhere like the Wye ..... where I won't be fishing 0.09 very often ;)

0.09 is my normal starting hook length for silver fishing on the Trent, Warks Avon, Great Ouse etc., but then I'll happily fish 0.07 for bream on the canal.

food for thought a good read

Hi Dodge,
I get that - 23 kilo in 5 hours is pretty good going .... VDE super cup (Holme P'Pont) style.
My question is more why did he stay on 0.09 did hook length?
I'd be matching that hook to 0.11 or even 0.13

Good read 3 thoughts spring to mind for me 1. size 14 b511 seems REALLY large to me on 0.09? 2. interesting that it's a 5 hour match on the continent? Is that becoming more prevalent now? 3. I understand that the world champs is moving from 3 to 4 hours ..... will this favour the UK sides who are mo...

CWH - would that put it early this century then? I remember the 1993 semi on that part of the GUC that Central won. Must admit that we hadn't seen them as a danger at all, but it fished very hard and they scratched much better than all the others.

well that's true mr Teepot ..... pretty much the only canal venue I go to these days, and really enjoy the Small Heth matches .... too many boats on the GUC down Northampton and MK these days.
I did learn a little about fishing the squatt from those Image boys ;)

Dodge - he did draw on a few, seem to remember him having about 11lb (maybe less). We had Mark Addy to coach us on it ..... never having fished raw joker before!! Actually caught loads of fish in practice .... little dumpy roach and bitterling. I thoroughly enjoyed it (especially whopping Polly's a*...

So Gary's another who's gone to the dark side eh keith?? I think he had a spell at Oakwood as well. I googled Jeb, and he's still doing the stuff ..... 2nd at Larford back in April. He was always a good big fish angler. Jeb won the day I had my first ever frame (2nd) in a big open (100 peg +) on the...

Hi all, I'm new to this forum (although I know a few of you from on the bank). I particularly like the look of the all our yesterdays section .... although it looks like I've missed most of the good action on that one already!! Anyway - rather than posting a separate thread in All Our yesterdays - I...

Still fishing relatively hard then Mr Teepot?

Sorry I can't come at the mo - had my heart op end of April, so can't drive for at least 6 weeks and not allowed to lift my ASI for at least that long!!!
At least I'll get plenty of rigs tied .....
Missing the fishing tho .... I do like Small Heath!
