You know how it is Conna - making the best of a difficult situation and adapting to the conditions and how they want it on the day. ;)
Changing the subject - wheres SS? Bit quiet from him at the mo? Has he gone on his jollies, clocking up the OT or is his server down?

Hi Conna - a bit of a struggle too. River looked aok and dropped about an inch whilst we fished. 14lb won off perm peg 14.He ran the stick thru close in, fished mag and also fed seed. Next peg to him downstream was a decent trent bloke - he struggled for 2lb. Must have been shoaled up? I fished perm...

Ain't fished the 'cricket' stretch for years - used to be some good chub holes down there - might have influenced my guestimate if I'd have known you were on there - but conditions werent tickety boo or they may not be there anymore.

Bet that storm over Burton at 5.30pm on the Sat evening (we were in the pub there) put a few inches on from what we'd encountered. Didn't realise you were on Baileys and the 'Municipal' stretch. Was that planned or due to lack of pegs on baileys? We were due to fish fish Baileys in Sept but the Bass...

Hard luck mate. Nice write up and pictures. The one in the car on the way sets the tone and is most ominous and foreboding. I can imagine a nightmare weighing in across the two sections in the weather :(.......alright for them who only had a 5yard walk back to their cars. Do I win the chocy for my or...

In the past when I've been confronted with matches on rivers that are out of sorts I'd got a couple of rigs tied up - say 1 grm floats, but tied direct to 1/2 - 1oz bombs. Hook length say 2ft for example paternostered off about 8 inches up from the bomb. Plumb up (with the bomb, set float typically ...

I can well imagine, having fished the point, which bombs at you..... Anyway well done for reading the river and applying some tactical nuance which paid off. http://simplematchfishing.co.uk/forum2/images/converted_files/yabbfiles/Templates/Forum/default/thumbsup.gif I might have been able to read ...

What do you think the best pegs are at Broadholme? I generally agree with your observations relating to conditions and how the Trent responds. Similarly low and clear conditions can be a real struggle. Re the best pegs dependent on season/conditions. Your peg 26 not too bad if conditions ok, but ge...

Not so much rain today as originally forecast..........so can I review my guestimate? Now 9lb 2oz :D Mind this is based on our club expectations so if I factor in an algorithm relating to the fact that Yale anglers are much better than us (we're cr*p) probably 17lb 6oz :D ( ps How many guesses a...

Sorry to put a dampner on things - but lots of rain forecast this week. I'd be happy with double figures on Broadholme (bass Isalnd) on Sat, but think you might need less. I'll go for 7lb 3 oz off Baileys

I've been using the Drennan fine match on the Trent this year - no probs with the general stamp of fish. Prior to that I used to use the B530s all the while on the Trent.

Hi Lee - I didn't mean anything derogatory about it's use - and the bloke was laughing. I'm sure you're right, plus the fact they've all got full bellies from yesterdays feast.
Brill weights - whats' 8lb in that area - about 100 fish looking at the stamp I saw the guy catching on Fri?

Dain't think there was any bad pegs on your cut Lee :D :P Bet one was in the low 90s? Never looks as inviting on that small pound as on the other sections - hardly see a fish topping there but when I get to the 80s,70s and 60s there's always plenty of activity. The high 90s look much better at the...

Picked a couple of packets up today from Shanes after I went for a stroll down your cut at dinnertime. Yep, they look a nice hook, stronger than the B590s but still a relatively fine wire. http://simplematchfishing.co.uk/forum2/images/converted_files/yabbfiles/Templates/Forum/default/thumbsup.gif Th...

Cheers Si. I'm always on the lookout for venues with a decent silverfish head in so you've an alternative to carp

Hi Si - nice 'report'. Is it a 'private' venue or available for club bookings? If available how many anglers can it accomodate and could you get me contact/price details?
