Question Time

what do RR, PJ and TM think? I'm no expert on hemp (although I've won a lot more on it over the years than ChopwormHero would believe :-) ) but seems to me to be a combination of angler ability and confidence in the bait flow colour roach population size distribution (and therefore competition) and ...

Division 1 National

Yep Joff ... this game is all about decisions. what surprised me more is that I'm usually a pretty good judge of what's being caught around me ..... in fact if anything I overestimate other's catches .... not on this occasion! Anyway - I posted to highlight yet another option that might be quite att...

Division 1 National

That Sean Ashby is quite good isn't he? I was next peg downstream sunday at Collingham - I wasted most of the match fishing for a Barbel - but from a short while on the stick I reckoned that I could do 6 pounds or so of bits (tiny dace and slightly bigger roach) if I'd spent the match on it. Sean ch...

Evesham weekend - stars fishing?

I may well be wrong - but I think the individual matches are all qualifiers now. Chopworm Hero will no doubt be along soon to correct me :-)

I only live down the road (Above Stratford), but never get myself in gear to book in before all the weekend qualifiers have been sold out. Next year .......

New changes for the winter league

That's quite good really! prize money is relatively trivial - it's never even going to cover costs ..... but the return of league winners only going through is a good thing whilst leaving a carrot for the second place. Will be intersting to see how / if they split the final and "cup final"...

Bait Tech Southern Canal League

Nice write up (and well done on the MK spring league result).

definitely advertise the opens at Weedon and Flore - I used to love going there in the 90s, along with Grafton Regis and Stoke Bruerne.

worm hooks

depends what you're fishing for is the obvious point.

I personally like crystal bend hooks for choppy fishing. I still have a few preston chop worm pattern hooks for scratching on the canals, whilst for proper lumpy perch on the Wye I use drennan forged match in size 12.

Div 1 National Trent - any teams need an angler?

Does anyone know of a team that might want a reasonably competent river angler as an addition to their ranks for this match?

thanks in advance for any leads

Winter League semi Final

well done to all the qualifiers from all the semis I was offerred the "opportunity" for a trip to the dark side by turning out for Quorn on Lindholme (don't worry I was registered for the league and did fish the last round at Sutton Bonnington). First time on a commie since 1999 (hence my ...

The frustrations of Team fishing

yeh - it does look inexplicable why they failed quite so badly. I've only fished the river a couple or so times, but it looks a remarkably fair venue to me. I really can't agree with Tom's assertion that it's "not a great match fishing venue" .... from what I've seen it's as good as a rive...

Joff, agree with Tom that you can't rely on one person to carry the team ..... BUT .... and you will know much better than I is the Soar really that peggy? Or is it just a very competitive and even league? Random section draw on the SVWL as well ..... surely it evens out and the best team wins??
