Arrans Lake, 24th April 2021

9 fished today. For a change we had the roadside bank. How nice to fish in the sun after the ordeal of the last match, although it was quite an Easterly breeze throughout. With all the recent dry weather the lake level was down, and that coupled with night time frosts for the past week, meant no-one...

Re: Club Match Bookings 2021

Mick - Dave tried Southend Farm a week or so back and got a rather curt 'no bookings available' response. We thought maybe we'd got them on an off day so I tried again today requesting specific dates - all very pleasant, the fella said he had taken over in January 2021, but I still got "no Satu...

Monk Lake 1, 10th April 2021

Our first match of the year - just 8 fished today - not really surprising after a long and wierd old winter I guess. The effects of a long Lock Down also produced a few surprises - Josh virtually unrecognisable with long flowing locks and a full beard, while Dave definitely looked like an ageing roc...

Re: Club Match Bookings 2021

Me and Jim are good for the 10th April :thumsup I think the Subs are fine - we did subsidise a couple of venues quite heavily last year. Yeah - would be up for Colemans again especially as our pool (no pun intended) of potential venues has bee shrinking. Dont mind which lake although if pushed I wou...

Re: Club Match Bookings 2021

Hi Josh, spoke with Dave the other day. He is slowly coming out of hibernation ;D and will be booking further venues any time now. In the meantime the plan is that 10th April Monk Lake 1 will be our first match of the season unless the rules change again. :thumsup Dave will also be posting about mem...

Re: Top Kits

Mine are 2.5m each and 2.75m for the silvers top 3 kit.
You'll have to measure your top kits from tip to pulla plus a bit spare.
3m for two poles would mean stretching the laccy for too much.
At least with Nick Gilbert you can select the best length and price to match.

Re: Top Kits

Gino, I've been a hydro user for many years - esp black and red. But I do find the surface cracks and weakens fairly quickly - the last lot after just 1 season which at the price I was not too happy about. Have a really close look at the first 30-50cm from your connector. Is it me or is Hydro not as...

Arrans Lake, 17th Oct 2020

16 turned out today for our last match of the season. It was dull and cool thorughout, and after a frost on Thurdsay night it was not surprising that things turned a bit hard, even for this prolofic venue. In fact for quite a few, particularly those in the middle section it turned out to be a bit of...

Re: Prospective membership and venues for 2021

Yes Clive. Royal Berkshire Lake 3 looks promising. Nice and near for me for a change, but would everyone else be prepared to make the treck? Windsor not far off the motorways and not far outside the M25. This would certainly help meet the requests for new venues. I also like the look of Billhook lak...

Re: Southend Farm, Damsel Lake; 3rd Oct 2020

Out of interest, here is yesterdays match result as a silvers only: 1. John 37-08 2. Vic 24-04 3. Tony R 24-00 4. Jim 22-04 5. Keith 21-00 6. Mick 20-08 7. Dave 9-12 One thing's quite clear - its a close run thing for the most part. So you've got to keeping them coming right up to the whistle and av...

Interestingly enough, Keith, the match on the main lake yesterday was silvers only :thumsup

Southend Farm, Damsel Lake; 3rd Oct 2020

Just seven fished today which was rather disappointing. If I'm not mistaken thats our lowest ever turnout. So looking forward to seeing everyone at our final match of the season at Aarons Lake in 2 weeks time. Thankyou to those who did make it today as the weather was seriously wet to start with, al...
