Breakfast near Coventry

Hi Guys. I know how helpful and knowledgable you all are. I am helping Nick Larkin out on the NISA Feeders stand at The Big One show at Stoneleigh this coming weekend. Leaving Suffolk at 6am I would like to stop for breakfast somewhere on route preferably nearer Coventry as we should be there about ...

R Yare 7th July

:D Thanks for the offer but I got away with a 2oz Nick Larkin feeder with just a couple of 5grm clip ons on it halfway across. Next weeks tide 1 1/2 oz should be enough with luck.

R Yare 7th July

There was more colour in the river but a big spring tide with some flood water meant that the river kept rising and came over the boards where I was pegged once again. Skimmers made up most of the weights with the top section 22 to 29 producing 4 of the top 6 weights. Chris Jackubowski was an except...

R Yare carries on from last years brilliant season

The tide and floodwater was too large, I understand that the 3 dayer on the tidal Trent was cancelled. Shame, I half fancied it myself but the Yare is fishing better so why go anywhere else?

Weather !

We've missed the last two horrendous lots of rain. My local river is way below normal summer levels still.

The clever guys like Nick Larkin and Chris V fish the tip, snare a lump or two then top up with roach on the pole if it isn't happening. I tend to stick to the feeder and curse the luck of the draw :'(

chrisV  the weights are unbelievable are they all feeder weights or are some pole weights http://simplematchfishing.co.uk/forum2/images/converted_files/yabbfiles/Templates/Forum/default/thumbsup.gif All the bream weights come on the feeder. Very few are hooked on the pole and they rarely come out o...

R Yare carries on from last years brilliant season

I believe Tony Gibbons had 20lb + of roach in the 90's on Saturday but THE Mark Pollard (we have two of them fishing the series the other is called Chunky) only managed 16lb off the same section.  So there are plenty to go at, it just depends what size you get as to what the weight is.  If the river...

BROWNING Z12 WOW!!

I broke the number 5 on my Z12 the other week. My fault I had the 16 metre butt end stuck in a bush and 20 yards of black hydro with a carp attached in a bed reeds at the other. Once I found a dealer who still had a Browning account and ordered a replacement section, it was there in about 3 days. Br...

Match Fishing Italian Style

Here are some photo's of a match that I 'discovered' whilst on a recent trip to Lake Garda in Northern Italy. Not a feeder rod to be seen on any of the 50 pegs that I walked by, only the odd pole but most had 5 or 6 bolognese rods set up. I don't know how many fished as after 50 pegs the better half...

The question of 2lb Roach

I had one of 2lb 4oz on the R Yare last Tuesday. It came out of the blue really as I had a truly mixed bag with roach between 6oz and 1lb 4oz, skimmers between 8oz and 1lb 8oz, odd dace and perch and even 2 cocky ruffe. As the big one looked really special I walked down the bank to borrow some scale...

Ever felt a complete plonker ... lol

I remember turning up to fish for pike in a lake just after a thaw and a bit of rain. The lake looked perfect after the ice had melted, a nice ripple and the odd fish pimpling the surface. Tackled up, cast out a dead bait and the whole end tackle was laying on the top! Under 1/4 inch of rainwater th...

R. Yare returns to brilliant form

79 anglers were faced with a slow neap tide ebbing for the first half the match and then flooding. Altogether there was a total catch of over 1,775lb and that included at least one DNW, I know, I was that man! I think there were over 40 20lb weights and I was told at least one 30lb+ weight of roach ...

Any chance of guesting on this one if it is still on?

I can't confirm yet but I should be OK if you would let me have a peg.

The Gozzer

I've still got some annatto. It keeps for years and you only need a small amount just to give the gozzers a tinge of colour. More years ago than I care to remember I tried mixing it with some Rhodamine (pink) dye and the resulting gozzers came out a very interesting peach colour. Interesting stuff ...
