All our yesterdays.........last horse drawn barge

They were still running a horse drawn barge once a year on the R. Chelmer until the last few years. I can't remember now if it was a brewery or the Chelmer Navigation Co. that ran it just to keep alive their rights and the tradition. Certainly it ran in the last 20 years. 1959 is my guess. I remembe...

I put 3 wheels on my old Penrose barrow. Bit of a problem around corners when I had to lift the back wheels off the ground but on the straight, great!

I am told by a mate who uses the site Geeps has put a notice up saying that one of their servers had been attacked through an advertiser or something over the weekend. I haven't been on the site and won't for a bit but he says that it is all clear now. If you use Explorer as your web browser you won...

New vid on the RIVER!

Well done mate. A great and very exciting way of catching carp off the top as you say. A couple of little tips. Instead of having the rod pointing down and straight out, try putting it to the side and down, as you would when legering or using a pellet waggler. Then when a carp or trout takes it cann...

New vid on the RIVER!

Well done Daniel, looked as if you had some hard conditions there to contend with. I like the way that you have painted your pole top. I like to break the outline of my pole tops up with some white or heron grey paint but also leaving some black.

THE RIVER THAMES

How anyone can call her Old Father Thames I have no idea as she is most obviously a woman - some of the tricks she plays on you! She can be gentle and kind but other ...

Angling Trust Membership

As Keith Arthur said the other day on Fishermans Blues. Why is it anglers will join the RSPB who appear to be anti angling and yet won't join the Angling Trust? I must admit that I am also an RSPB member but I have written to them complaining about their apparant anti angling stance where they buy w...
