Ashes
Anyone hear Boycott on Radio 5 live Extra this morning before the match, I quote - " England can't win this match, I guarantee it, England can't win" Didn't hear him apologise at stumps! I must admit to groaning out loud when I heard England were going to bowl after winning the toss. Espec...

some of the first pole floats
The first 'pole floats' in the UK and Europe would undoubtedly have been quills. They would have been used on Sowerbutts cane poles and of course the original fishing tackle would not have incorporated a reel

I think the hair curler thing started on the Thames but it could still have been Essex County and Jim because he didn't move up here until later.

I agree it is probably the Fens with an outside chance of the Somerset Levels, my guess would be the Welland.

ever used these floats
Sounds like very hard work Chris!
I had some floats that were badged Ivan Marks. I probably still have a few somewhere as I probably stopped using them when I couldn't replace them, I'm sure that the zoomer was one of them.

B/J- V- BREAD-v- every other peg
Fishing bread on the river tomorrow. I think that perhaps I will have to get a match pack and some joker as the fishing around here on the river gets harder and harder.

Snow
Just about stopped snowing here in Ipswich now. Not had too much so the Fur & Feather on the R. Gipping should go ahead. About 30 booked in, wonder how many will turn up? Ipswich win 3 - 0, I bet Roy Keen hopes it snows like that for the rest of the season! Nice to see the old orange ball again ...

What amazes me is that Blatter cares - at 86 by 2022 and obviously suffering from senile decay now, surely the odds are on him being dead by then!

I have the original Skeetex moon boots but they were a contributory factor in my going A over T on Sunday! They can be lethal on ice or mud, especially on a down slope!

Saturday I was 4th with 7lb 12oz of caster roach, Sunday I had a level 2lb and managed 2nd =. Went base over apex getting down to my p...

Dropping worst two results.
When I regularly fished club matches and the club league you got one point for winning and then down to 10 for being 10th or 20 for being 20th or lower. There were anything up to 35 of us fishing and if you were a DNW or didn't fish then you got 25 points. You had to drop your 4 worst points over th...
